Amy Porter

April 6, 1970 - January 21, 2022

Amy Laura Aidukaitis Porter arrived into the world on the Monday morning of April 6th, 1970, in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. She learned to speak from her Brazilian father, Nelson Aidukaitis, and her American mother, Julie Aidukaitis, learning both English as well as Portuguese. This began a lifetime of using her gift of speech with abandon, never shying away from speaking her mind. At the age of six, she and her family packed their bags and moved to the United States, settling and making a home on Timpview Drive, in Provo, Utah. She grew with her family of two brothers older than she, and four sisters younger. She was looked up to by all her siblings, and was always a dependable help around the house. Amy developed a desire and love for learning, and excelled in her academics. She graduated from Timpview High School in 1988. That love of learning took her to Rick’s College, where she met her future husband, Vaughn Porter. However, she left him and her schooling behind to serve a full-time mission for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints in Minneapolis, Minnesota. She was the only woman in her family to choose to serve a mission, and she served the full 18-month period. When she returned home, her friendship with Vaughn quickly progressed into love, and she knew very soon that he was the love of her life. They were sealed in the Salt Lake City Temple on June 17th, 1993. Her own family began with the birth of her first-born son, Kaleb, in 1994. She didn’t think she could ever love someone as much as she loved her baby boy. She was then proven wrong with the birth of her second son, Kyle, in 1997. This pattern continued with the birth of her only daughter, Sasha, in 2001, as well as with her son, Shaun, born in 2005 as the baby of the family. Her four children were her entire life, and she dedicated every waking moment to them. She raised them up in a home that was completely ablaze with her fiery devotion to the gospel, as well as a total love for her country, neither of which she could stop herself from sharing with anyone who would listen. She was a good friend, and was always looking for ways to lend a hand to anyone in need. Her love of America motivated her to help found Patriot Camp, a non-profit summer camp for kids to learn about the founding principles and history of The United States of America. Her excitement about these topics was contagious, and left an impact on anyone in attendance. The idea spread, and there are now eleven of these same camps throughout Utah, and counting. When she wasn’t organizing summer camps, or helping one of her children with a school project, or keeping her house in as perfect condition as was possible with four children, she could be found continuing still to feed her desire for learning. She spent her time reading from the scriptures, or listening to the words of prophets and apostles from General Conference, or reading articles about current events. She loved to go on long drives to admire the beauty of the earth. She spent Sundays listening to Sounds of Sunday on the radio, and had a passion for the healing power of uplifting music until the very end. Amy passed away on the Friday night of January 21st, 2022, with nothing in her heart but a complete love for her family and total faith in Jesus Christ. She is survived by her husband, Vaughn Porter, and children, her son Kaleb Porter and his wife Hilma Porter, her son Kyle Porter and his wife Marley Porter, her daughter Sasha Porter, and her son Shaun Porter and her mother Julie Aidukaitis and her siblings. Funeral Services will be held Thursday, January 27th at 11:00 am, at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Highland 11th Ward, 4679 West 11000 North, Highland, Utah, where a Viewing will be held after the Funeral Service from 12:15 pm to 1:00 pm. Interment in the Highland City Cemetery, Highland, Utah. The Funeral Service will be available to view via livestream at the following link: https://my.gather.app/remember/amy-porter
