Anne Arnold
December 10, 1940 - January 10, 2016
Anne Evans Taylor Arnold returned home to her Father in Heaven on January 10, 2016 after a lengthy and courageous battle with cancer. Anne was born on December 10, 1940 in Preston, Idaho to her parents, George Raymond and Laura Taylor. She was a curious active little girl who loved ice skating, sewing, and freshly baked bread. She learned homemaking skills at an early age to help her mother around the house and excelled at sewing in 4H, earning a blue ribbon at the state fair. Anne graduated from Utah State University where she not only studied early childhood education, but gained a love of reading and working with young children. She used this knowledge in many aspects of life including raising her own children and the numerous children from her local church congregation that she served and taught. On June 18, 1965 Anne married her sweetheart, James Arnold in the Logan LDS Temple for time and all eternity. She was an elementary school teacher early on in her adult life, but the hardest, most rewarding title she ever held was that of Mother. She worked her entire life to teach her children, and later, her grandchildren, to love and serve others; to set and achieve their goals; and to grow in the Gospel. Anne was a faithful member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Brevard, NC. From the early days of their time in Brevard, Anne served diligently in any capacity required by the small branch of the Church there. Throughout Western North Carolina, Anne instructed, uplifted, and led by example. Her influence helped establish a connected and supportive network of strength and sisterhood among the women of the Church. Anne often lamented that if it hadn’t been for her health, she and Jim could have served missions in other parts of the world, but her entire life was an example of selfless missionary service. Anne’s hobbies included sewing, quilting, reading, and traveling with her husband. She loved to do any activity that her children and grandchildren loved to do: visiting family; attending plays, concerts, recitals and sporting events; reading to her grandchildren and having them read to her in return. She found her greatest joy in her posterity, and she will be remembered by them, and the many other people who enjoyed an association with her, as a faithful, kind, and loving example of a godly woman; as a quick and intelligent wit with a sharp sense of humor and an infectious laugh; and as a dedicated mother, friend, and confidant. Anne was preceded in death by her father and mother, George Raymond Taylor and Laura Evans Taylor of Logan, Utah. She is survived by her husband, James Brent Arnold of Brevard, North Carolina and her children; Amy (Craig) Parrish of Pocatello, Idaho; Allyson (Robert) Price of Springville, Utah; James Patrick (Leigh) Arnold of San Antonio, Texas; Libby (Brent) Robertson of Pleasant Grove, Utah; and twenty grandchildren. She is also survived by her sisters Marilyn (Jay) Lindsay and Jeanne (John) Bringhurst. Funeral Services for Anne will be held on January 15, 2016 at 11:00 am at the Grove Creek LDS Stake Center, 1176 North 730 East, Pleasant Grove, Utah, where a viewing will be held from 10:00 am to 10:45 am. Interment will be at the Pleasant Grove Cemetery, 500 North Main, Pleasant Grove, Utah. Funeral Directors: Utah Valley Mortuary.
