Archie L. Brady
July 31, 1922 - April 29, 2018
Archie Loren Brady, 95, of Pleasant Grove, passed away peacefully Sunday, April 29, 2018, exactly 6 months to the day after the passing of his beloved wife, Norma. He was born July 31, 1922 in Duchesne, Utah to Loren E. and Phydonia Stott Brady. He was the oldest of 6 children. Archie moved to Pleasant Grove from the Basin when he was 12 years old and graduated from Pleasant Grove High School. He served in World War II in the Army Air Corps, part of the 48th Fighter Group, landing on Utah Beach, in Normandy France, day 6. He also saw action in the Battle of the Bulge. At the age of 79 he told us, “I have nothing to give my country right now…I’m too old, my hearing isn’t that good, but if my country calls me – I’d go! This country is worth fighting for.” After the war he met his sweetheart, Norma Edwards. They were married in the Salt Lake Temple on December 12, 194 and were together nearly 72 years. They had 8 children, Archie Larry (deceased), Norma Jean Anderson (Richard), Karen Zitzmann (Kurt), LeAnn Preece (Dan), Loren Pat (Susan), Taylor (Janell), Boyd (Sandy) and Lori Ann Pallas (Chris). They have 37 grandchildren and 89 great grandchildren, their posterity is 174. Dad was a faithful member of the LDS Church and served in many capacities, he loved people, he was always so kind and willing to help others. At the age of 31 he was involved in an industrial accident, eventually losing all the toes on his left foot, causing him considerable pain the rest of his life, he never complained. Dad had several jobs, his favorite was maintenance man at the Sundance Ski Resort, he was loved and respected by all he worked with, in fact a bike trail called Arch’s Loop was named after him. Archie had many hobbies, softball being one, in 1962 he pitched on the winning “All Church Fast Pitch” team. He made welding an art, he and Norma began a metal working business, which is now called Western Iron. They loved spending time at Willow Creek, their property in Duchesne County, we all loved being there with them. He is survived by his seven children and two brothers Evan Brady and La Ross Brady. He was preceded in death by his wife, young son Larry, his parents, brother and sisters, Lenore Nielson, Lester Brady and Ellen Tregaskis. We as a family are so grateful for the services and kindness of the Spring Gardens Senior Living Center Staff and Brighton Hospice. Funeral Services will be held Saturday, May 5th, at 11:00 am, at the Pleasant Grove 12th Ward Chapel, 828 South Locust Avenue, Pleasant Grove, Utah, where a Viewing will held prior to services from 9:00 to 10:30 am.
