Arthur Edmunson

May 12, 1939 - September 18, 2018

Arthur (“Art”) Elsworth Edmunson of Euclid, Ohio passed away peacefully of issues related to age at Hillcrest Hospital in Mayfield Heights, Ohio at 2:00 am (EDT) on September 18th, 2018 at the age of 79. He was born in Coalinga, California on May 12th, 1939 to Arthur Edwin and Mary Ella (Colvin) Edmunson. Art served honorably for ten years in the US Navy (1958 – 1968). Upon release from the US Navy service he continued his education, receiving an Associate Degree from Fresno State. He then went to work at the Department of Defense at China Lake Naval Weapons Center as a police officer, where he advanced to the rank of Lieutenant. During his career he continued his education receiving several specialized degrees and certificates. He retired from his Federal Security career with the DOD, having worked in several departments there. His hobbies as a young man included building race cars and other vehicles. As an adult he had a fondness for hunting and fishing. He served in many civic and religious organizations. He was a member of the 32nd Degree Masons / Scottish Rite Masons / Shriners which he joined in the Philippines while he was serving in the US Navy. He also, along with his “eternal sweetheart” Barbara, held many LDS church callings, including serving two LDS missions, once as stake missionaries in Ridgecrest, California (1993-1995) and as service missionaries serving as hosts at “Cove Fort” located in Millard County, Utah (2003-2005). Art had a wonderful time raising his own children as well as many foster children. His pride and joy were his grandchildren and their accomplishments. He possessed a deep passion for others around him. Telling his “stories” kept all entertained and in awe of the unbelievable things that he had seen and done as a younger man. He is survived by his lovely bride of 60 years, Barbara Louise, their three daughters: Denise Workman (Roscoe), Regina Kamilar (Gregg) and Sara Hendricks (William), 8 grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren. Funeral Services will be held Friday, September 28th, at 11:00 am, at the Eagle Mountain 6th Ward, 4142 Lake Mountain Road, Eagle Mountain, Utah, where Viewings will be held Thursday, September 27th from 6:00 to 8:00 pm and prior to services from 9:30 to 10:30 am. Military Honors (provided by American Legion Post 19), dedication of the grave and Interment will follow at the Pony Express Memorial Cemetery (Eagle Mountain Cemetery), Eagle Mountain, Utah.
