Barbara Lee Montoya

October 7, 1939 - November 28, 2012

One of our Heavenly Father's Angels returned home after a long courageous battle with a debilitating illness on Wednesday, November 28, 2012. Passed away peacefully surrounded by her loving family and special friend Ringo Montoya. Fondly known as "Grandma" was born on October 7, 1939 in Salt Lake City, Utah to George R. Kent and Dorothy A Turley. She attended and graduated from West High School, married Daniel A. Montoya and together had five children: Dorothy (Brad), Karen (Dennis), Kathy (Phillip), Sharon (Rick) and son John. Later she attended Utah Technical College and held various employment positions. Grandma loved gardening and was known for her beautiful yard and flowers. She had a unique talent for decorating and making birthdays and holidays extra special. She enjoyed traveling to San Francisco, California and spoke fondly of living there in her early-married years. Smart, witty, with a keen sense of humor, but could never tell a joke without laughing before the punch line. She loved her animals and enjoyed watching their funny antics. Above all her grandchildren were her pride and joy. Each of them has special memories of Grandma. She made each one feel like they were her favorite. Throughout her life there was a special bond between her and sister Sharon Golding. Aunt Sharon gave Mom many years and countless hours of loving care. Aunt Sharon sacrificed much for the care and wellbeing of Mom in the years preceding her death. Preceded in death by her parents, George and Dorothy Kent, brother George and former spouse Daniel A. Montoya. Survived by her five children, two sisters: Sharon Golding, Caroline Hill and brother Marlow Kent, seventeen grandchildren, two great grandchildren and beloved pets Ringo, Kiki, and Boo. The family would like to extend a special thanks to Jen, Minnie and Adrian from Envision Hospice Care. They provided exceptional and loving care for our sweet little Mom. Private services will be held Wednesday, December 5, 2012.
