Beth Barton Bell
July 30, 1928 - April 29, 2015
"Life by an Inch..." Mom's earth life was completed Wednesday, April 29, 2015, Orem, Utah at the home of her daughter, where she had resided for eleven years. Her passing was incident to age, Dimentia, and a worn out body! Beth Barton was the "caboose" in the Barton home, arriving on July 30, 1928, in Salt Lake City, Utah. Her parents: Edgar M. and Flavilla (Tuft) Barton. The excited siblings of the new baby sister were Allan Barton, Laura (Holmes), Norma (Warren) and Lillian (Swenson), all have preceded her in death. Beth attended Riverside Elementary, Jordan Jr. High and graduated from West High School. Mother sang with the high school Acapella choir. She recalled with accuracy her school memories and activities, and has shared a lifetime with her dearest and closest friends from school days. Mother still, to the end would/could sing the West High Panther school song with enthusiasm and loyalty. After graduation she worked in downtown Salt Lake City, for Montgomery Ward. Mom later accepted a job as the Receptionist for USF & G insurance. Mother married Don J. Bell on March 27, 1951 in the Salt Lake LDS Temple. Soon thereafter they moved to Fort Reilly, Kansas where dad was stationed in the United States Army until his deployment to Japan. From Kansas, mom moved back to Utah to be close to her siblings and their families. She worked, raised children, and succeeded as a dedicated wife, mother, and homemaker. It was in 1962 that the Bell family moved to southern California (Chino). Mother went to work immediately as the secretary to thoroughbred horse breeder Rex Ellsworth. Mom had excellent typing skills, was so good with people, and a most dependable employee. Other outside-the-home employment was with Sears in the customer service department and thereafter 19 years retired from Claremont McKenna Admissions Secretary. There is nothing more important to mother than her family, faith and country. She supported her four children to the height of "Best Mother in the World" award! It is only fitting that her six grandchildren are the greatest treasures she could have. She reared us with undoubting faith and testimony of God and served with dedicated love in her church callings and assignments. Beth Bell is a woman of friendliness, truth, sense of humor, hugs, ball games, love of people, and animals (especially Abe), sunsets, mountains, and flowers. Favorite colors: Red. White, and Blue...need anything else be said. Mom for a time is leaving her children: Wendy, Blair, April and Drew along with her beloved grandchildren: Joshua, Micah, Megan Zushi, Kyle, Kaitlyn, and Kelsey Bell. Seventeen nieces, nephews, son-in-law, and daughter-in-law are included in her living legacy. Preceded in death by husband, parents and siblings. Funeral Services for Beth will be held Saturday, May 9th, at 12:00 noon, at Orchard 7th Ward, 600 North 800 East, Orem, Utah, where a Viewing will be held prior from 10:30 am to 11:30 am. Interment in East Lawn Memorial Hills Cemetery, 4800 North 650 East, Provo, Utah. Funeral Directors: Utah Valley Mortuary.
