Blanche Benson

November 3, 1918 - March 8, 2018

Blanche Alta Severson Benson Nov.3, 1918 ~ March 8, 2018 Forever Loved Blanche was ambitious, industrious, a skilled organizer, a meticulous homemaker. She will be remembered for her countless, quiet acts of kindness and service to all those around her. Her thoughtfulness, example, faith, and love will be cherished forever by her family, extended family, and friends. She passed away peacefully on March 8, 2018 in Orem, Utah, at the home of her daughter, Kathleen. Blanche was born on Nov. 3, 1918 in Sandy, Utah to Job Henry and Annie Maria Stone Fox Severson. She was the youngest and last survivor of 17 siblings from a blended family of a His, Hers, and Our Marriage. Married to her sweetheart, Homer Dean Benson for 72 years, prior to his passing in 2008. She was his forever love. Her heart has missed him greatly and has longed to be with him again. She was a devoted and faithful member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter day Saints. Whether serving as the Jr. Sunday School Coordinator, Primary President, In-Service leader, Relief Society Counselor, or dedicated visiting teacher, her life was devoted to our Savior, Jesus Christ. She enjoyed excelling in school, athletics, dancing, reading, cooking, gardening, sewing, phone calls, letter writing, and supporting her family in their lives and activities. She was a self-reliant woman with a soul of integrity, selfless service, and kindness. When she made a commitment, she fulfilled it with her whole heart. She did small things in great ways. We thank her for her seeds of goodness and testimony so unselfishly sown in our lives. She exemplified lifting the hands that hang down and strengthened the weak. Her life was characterized by faith, frugality, hard work, integrity, overcoming adversity, fierce independence, and quiet generosity. She was a care giver extraordinaire especially in the care of her sweetheart during his years of declining health. As a family, we express gratitude to our sister, Arda, her husband, and family for the extra care, love, and unselfish service, given to Mom during the twilight years of her life. Thank you to all who greatly blessed her life and provided her comfort and love through visits, phone calls, and letters. During the past months, she has been tenderly cared for by her four children and family, who have had the honored privilege of serving and loving her. Thank you to the exceptional loving medical professionals who have supported her in her journey home. She is reunited with her beloved spouse, Homer, parents, and siblings, who preceded her in death. Survived by children, Dean Benson (Pat), Kathleen Nielsen (Steve, deceased), Arda Fjelstrom (Scott), and Nyra Ward (Jamie), 22 cherished grandchildren, 64 dearly adored great grandchildren, 7 deeply loved great-great grandchildren and sister-in-law and much-loved friend, Altha Benson Gandolfo, several beloved nieces, nephews, and dear friends. Families Are Forever, good byes are not forever or the end, they simply mean we will miss you, Mom, until we, see you again. May we remember, that the greatest gift we can give our loved ones is our time and love.
