Boyd Hancock
January 7, 1936 - August 20, 2016
Boyd Wayne Hancock passed away on August 20th 2016 with his family by his side at the young age of 80. Boyd was born in Blackfoot, Idaho January 7th 1936 to parents Louis Delbert Hancock and Ethelyn Francilda Nordby Hancock. He went to Blackfoot High School where he sang in musicals. After high school, he joined the US Navy where he served aboard the USS Wisconsin, touring the world for four years. During that time, he was able to sing on the Ed Sullivan TV show with the Navy Choir. After the Navy he attended Brigham Young University. By the time he graduated in Applied Vocal Theory (minoring in Italian), he was president of Opera Workshop and had performed in over 30 operas. It was in this music program that he met Carol Larson and discovered that they made beautiful music together. They were married in the Salt Lake City Temple on September 4, 1963. He went on to teach music in schools in Idaho, California and Utah for 20 years. Boyd's Life was dedicated to The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and to his family. He was an entertainer, vocal performer, conductor, director and producer of musicals, and operas. Boyd performed all over California, Idaho, and Utah, singing in and/or directing over 100 shows. The highlight being husband-wife team shows with Carol. He loved being with his family, movies, road trips, camping, Disneyland and being first in line at a buffet. He was the most loving, selfless father, grandfather and friend a family could ever hope for. Heaven just added a beautiful voice to its choir. Boyd is survived by his loving wife Carol Hancock of 53 years, sons John Hancock (Kindra Fehr) and Lance Hancock (Debbie Beatty) and his four grandchildren, Alexis, Aria Delci, Azur John and Ryan Lance. Funeral Services will be held Saturday, August 27th at 12:00 pm at the Kennekuk Ward, 8273 Simpson Springs Road, Eagle Mountain, Utah, where a Viewing will be held prior to services from 10:30-11:30 am.
