Mrs. Carol Lee Winn

December 23, 1948 - December 7, 2012

Our sweet wife, mother, grandmother, aunt, sister and friend, Carol Lee Funk Winn, passed away peacefully on December 7, 2012 surrounded by her family. She was 63 years old. Carol was born December 23, 1948 in Annabella, UT to Theron Buckley Funk and LuJuana Allen Funk. She attended Rancho High School in Las Vegas, NV as well as Pleasant Grove High School in Utah and also attended Brigham Young University. She married her teenage sweetheart, Larry Winn, July 16, 1969 in the Logan Temple and together they raised their four children; Rachelle Anderson of Riverton, UT; Preston Winn of Atlanta, GA; Adrienne Parsons of Provo, UT; and Trevor Winn of Lehi, UT. She is survived by her husband, all of her children, her 14 grandkids and by her sisters Sanna Rae Draper of Roosevelt, UT and Saundra Lyn Mahana of Green River, WY. She is preceded in death by her parents and her younger sister Teresha Sue King. Carol was a faithful member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints and served diligently there over the course of her life in both leadership and teaching roles to children, youth, and adults. She worked very hard her whole life as a mother but found her work as a respiratory therapy aid and later as a an itinerant aide teaching visual impaired students in Alpine School district very rewarding. In recent years much of her limited energy and abundant love flowed to her grandkids who are deeply devoted to their fun, attentive and supportive grandma who seemed to always know how they were feeling and what was going on in their lives. Carol loved to cook, entertain friends, and travel abroad – but only if it didn’t interfere with spending time with grandkids. She loved to ride horses, camp and boat and her kids have many fond memories of family vacations with her. Christmas was very special with her and her efforts around the holidays have left us some of the sweetest memories of her. She was a mother to many people besides her own children and looking back over her married life it is remarkable how many people she welcomed into her home, fed and cared for. As much as we will miss her, we have little doubt how much she will enjoy rejoining her father, mother and sister. Funeral Services will be held Monday, December 10, 2012 at 11:00 a.m. at the Canyon View 3rd Ward LDS on the corner of 800 E and 1200 N in Orem, where Visitations will also be held Sunday evening, December 9th from 6-8 p.m. and on Monday morning prior to services from 9:30-10:45 a.m. Interment will be in the Orem City Cemetery.
