Carolyn Ormond
July 22, 1936 - March 26, 2015
Carolyn Berlyne Stephens Ormond passed away at the age of 78 on March 26, 2015 in her home in American Fork, Utah from complications relating to MS. She had several other health issues throughout her life including rheumatic fever as a child. As an adult Bells Palsy and heart issues. She was born July 22, 1936 in Quinton, Oklahoma to Jewell Emily Duff and William Burl Stephens. She was an only child but grew up with close cousins. She graduated from Will Rogers High School in Tulsa, Oklahoma in 1955. She worked many years as a talented secretary being able to type 100 words per minute. She played the piano/organ for many years in church, dance bands, weddings, and funerals until her MS made it too difficult to continue. Mom was an excellent seamstress making dresses for special occasions for her daughters. She was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints serving in many positions including Relief Society, Primary, Mutual and was ward organist until she moved to Utah. Berlyne married JC Knight in Tulsa, Oklahoma (later divorced), had four children. Following the divorce she moved to Utah and at this time decided to go by her first name, Carolyn. She met and married Weldon (Wink) Bird, marriage annulled. Then she met Clarence Kilpatrick, they were married and later divorced. She then met Bud Barney Ormond and later sealed in the temple. They spent many years together until the time of his death. While she was at a dance she met Phillip Thornton who would literally sweep her off her feet. They married until the time of his death. She was preceded in death by her parents; her youngest child, Timothy Aaron Knight and her last two husbands. She is survived by her children Deborah Carol (Lynn) Wilson of Nephi, Utah, Pamela Ann (Fotu) Taeoalii of Pleasant Grove, Utah, and Michael Vann (Kelly) Knight of Sperry, Oklahoma. She is also survived by several grandchildren and many great grandchildren. Our deepest regret is that Mom did not have a closer relationship with her children and grandchildren. Private services were held in American Fork, Utah on April 2, 2015. Interment at American Fork City Cemetery. The family would like to express our deepest gratitude to Dr. Cherrington and the Hearts for Hospice staff especially her nurse Roy.
