Cecile Burr

November 7, 1950 - July 22, 2020

Ann Cecile Pontius Burr, age 69, passed away July 22, 2020 after a long battle with cancer. Those who knew Cecile were lucky enough to have known an angel here on earth. Her wit, laughter, warm heart and generous spirit will be deeply missed. Cecile was born to Robert and Ann Pontius in Logan, UT. The eldest of 8 children, Cecile learned early on how to cook and care for others. She graduated from Roy High in 1969 and later attended Ricks College, where she met and married Delbert Burr. Together they raised 7 children. Cecile’s lifelong dream was to raise a family. Nothing brought her more joy than her children and grandchildren, and she never wanted to be far from them. Cecile showed her love to others by feeding them. Some of our fondest memories are of us gathered at her home surrounded by family, food and laughter. Cecile was very talented and freely gave her gifts to others. She faithfully served in her church callings, using her talents to bless Primary children, Young Women, Relief Society and others that she served. She loved to paint, sew, sing, garden, play the piano, quilt, make soap, ferment foods and was always filling her life and those around her with the beauty she created. Cecile was a perfect example of a follower of Christ. She loved Christ and used every opportunity to be a witness of him. To know Cecile is to know of her testimony of Christ. She shared her testimony often towards the end of her life as this was the most important gift she could leave behind. Cecile lived a full life as a wonderful mother, homemaker and follower of Christ. We are all better because of her influence and love in our lives. We are left with a hole in our heart that no one else can fill. Cecile is survived by her children: David (Dorothy), Phillip (Jenny), Amy (Bruce), Julie (Lance), Colleen (Luke), Nathan (Rivka), Emily (Xing); 24 Grandchildren: Tyler, Chase, Payton, Carson, Jacob, John, Eli, Rachel, Aidan, Quinton, Ronan, Colbyn, Alix, Zach, Ian, Cora, Tes, Pierce, Truman, Sabrina, Miles, Kate, Nolan and Liam; Mother: Ann; Siblings: Robert, Alan, Lori, Dan and Joyce. She is preceded in death by her Father: Robert; brothers: John and Timothy. Funeral services will be held Tuesday, July 28th at 11:00 am, at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints located at 2256 N. Providence Drive, Saratoga Springs, Utah, where a viewing will be held prior to the service from 9:30 to 10:30 am. Due to current events, the funeral is by invitation only. A live stream will be provided. Interment will be held at Lindquist Washington Heights Memorial Park, 4500 Washington Blvd., Ogden, UT.
