Clive Murphy
February 7, 1934 - December 5, 2020
Our beloved father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and brother, Henry Clive Murphy, 86, passed from this life on December 5, 2020 at his daughter’s home in Springville, Utah. He had recently moved in with his youngest daughter, Rebecca Miller, who, along with her family, tenderly cared for him in his final weeks. He died peacefully with family by his side. Clive was born February 7, 1934 In Huntington Park, California to Clive Alvinous and Margaret Lee Pedersen Murphy. He was the middle of 3 children and the only son. After graduating from Huntington Park High School, Clive attended UCLA and then USC, where he earned a DDS degree. One month before graduating from dental school, he met the beautiful Helen Jo Walker on a blind date. Following a brief courtship, they were married in the Mesa Arizona LDS Temple on November 23, 1959. They soon settled in Southern California, where Clive practiced dentistry for nearly 50 years, treating several generations of loyal patients. Clive and Helen Jo spent most of their life together in Glendora, California raising their five children (a sixth child, Michael, died shortly after birth) and serving faithfully in many church and community responsibilities. Clive was well known for his exceptional work ethic and his faithful servant’s heart. He was often the first to arrive and the last to leave events, making sure every floor was swept and every chair put away. A few years after his son Jeff joined the dental practice, Clive retired to serve several missions for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints with his eternal companion, Helen Jo. They served in London, England; Nauvoo, Illinois; Salt Lake City, Utah for a Church and Family History Mission, and then served three years as a counselor and assistant to the matron in the Los Angeles Temple presidency. When Helen Jo became ill, they moved to Springville, Utah to be near family. Clive devotedly cared for her until she passed away in 2018. Clive missed her terribly, and we find great peace in knowing that they are joyously and eternally together again. Clive was preceded in death by his eternal companion Helen Jo, his infant son Michael, his parents, his elder sister Sharon Ball, as well as two infant grandsons. He is survived by his children Julie (Ron) White, La Verne, California; Jeffrey C. (Karen) Murphy, Glendora, California; Sheri (Steven) Lambert, Brentwood, Tennessee; Michelle (Brian) Lish, Camarillo, California; Rebecca (Jason) Miller, Springville, Utah; 25 grandchildren; 24 great-grandchildren; and his sister Kathy Brinton, Ogden, Utah. Funeral Services will be held Saturday, December 19th, at 1:30 pm. Due to Covid restrictions, attendance will be by invitation only. Funeral Services will be live broadcasted for all those who wish to participate. You may view the services at the following link: Clive Murphy's Funeral Services. Clive will be interred next to his beloved Helen Jo at the East Lawn Memorial Hills Cemetery in Provo, Utah. Funeral Directors: Utah Valley Mortuary
