Pleasant, and lived in Standardville, Utah until he was 3 ½ years of age when his father was killed in a coal mine explosion. He, his mother and sister Enid (Roland Adams) then moved to Mt. Pleasant to live with his maternal grandparents, Ottomine and James Clarence Clyde. Clyde attended grade school in Mt. Pleasant until he was nine years old, at which time his mother married Alton E. Clyde continued his education and earned his B.S. and M.S. at Brigham Young University and his PhD. in Zoology at University of Wyoming. In 1967 he and his family returned to Utah where he taught at BYU for 27 years and retired as Associate Professor in the faculty of Biological Sciences and curator of mammals at the Monte L Bean Museum. He served in many positions including teacher, clerk, scout leader, bishop’s counselor, Bishop, High Counselman, Temple Worker, (and including Relief Society President). He and Alice served as missionaries to the Frankfurt Germany Temple from 1995-1996.
