David Kay Jorgensen

July 9, 1952 - December 2, 2013

Our loving husband, father, grandfather, and friend, David Kay Jorgensen, age 61 of Pleasant Grove, Utah passed away on December 2, 2013 at his home with his loved ones at his side. After a valiant fight with lung cancer he has returned peacefully to his Father in Heaven. David was born on July 9, 1952 at American Fork Hospital, Utah to his loving parents, Glen Alexander Jorgensen and Lois Larson Jorgensen. They bought their first and only home in Pleasant Grove and that is where he grew up. David had spent a lot of his time growing up hunting in Ophir Canyon with his dad, brothers, uncles, and cousins. He had many fond memories traveling with his family and visiting the National Parks growing up. He enjoyed playing many sports growing up especially baseball and hanging out with his brothers. He graduated from Pleasant Grove High School and also attended four years of Seminary. At the age of 19 David got hired on at Geneva Steel Plant where he worked many jobs throughout his life with the latest working in the Q-Bop as a crane operator. He retired when the plant had shut down. David married his sweetheart Kerri Ince Jorgensen, November 2, 1974. Their marriage was later solemnized in the Mt. Timpanogos Temple of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints on May 14, 2013. David and Kerri were blessed with four beautiful children, Angie, Jason David, Amy, and Jesse Kay. David and Kerri enjoyed their vacations with their children that included many hunting, fishing, and camping trips growing up. They continued these activities with their grandchildren. David also enjoyed taking care of the yard and especially his garden. He was such a loving husband, father, grandfather “Papa”, son, brother, uncle, nephew, and friend. He had the best sense of humor and kept us all laughing even through his fight with cancer his sense of humor never left and we are so thankful of that. He never complained and was so brave through this battle and we are so proud of him. He is going to be missed dearly. We love you David, “Daddy”, Papa! David is survived by his beautiful wife, Kerri Ince Jorgensen; four children, Angie (Greg) Worthington, Jason (Christine) Jorgensen, Amy Anderson, and Jesse Jorgensen all of Pleasant Grove; seven grandchildren that adored him, Damon, Kyrah, Ciara, Ellie, Darius, Tahcoa, and Gaige; mother, Lois Larson Jorgensen; brothers, Larry Jorgensen, and Ronnie (Toni) Jorgensen. He is preceded in death by his father, Glen Alexander Jorgensen; grandparents, Sam and Mary Jorgensen, and Neil and Erma Larson. All who loved David are invited to a celebration of his life on Saturday, December 7th at 11:00 a.m. at the LDS Battle Creek 3rd Ward building located at 1222 E. Nathaniel Dr. (500 S.) Pleasant Grove, where Viewings will also be held at the same location on Friday, December 6th from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm and on Saturday prior to services from 10:00 am to 10:40 am. Interment in Pleasant Grove City Cemetery. The family wishes to express heartfelt gratitude to family members, friends, and members of the Battle Creek 3rd Ward for the love and friendship shown to David and his family over the years. They would also like to extend their thankfulness to Dr. Wendy Breyer and the staff members at Central Utah Clinic of American Fork Cancer Institute. Funeral Directors: Utah Valley Mortuary.
