David Norton
May 5, 1995 - April 6, 2015
David James Norton passed away at home on Monday, April 6, 2015. David was born on May 5, 1995 in American Fork, Utah. He is the oldest son of Jeff and Crystal Norton. He graduated from American Fork High School and then attended Utah Valley University. David enjoyed adventures that included hiking, backpacking, four wheeling, mounting biking, rock climbing, and shooting. He played for United Rugby, and wrestled on his high school team. He was also working on his private pilot license. He was very ambitious. Ambitious enough that he would buy a car without an engine and install one in it himself. He had several motorcycles and loved to customize them. David was determined to make things happen. When things didn’t go his way, he would find a way. “No” was not an option for him. David believed above all else in kindness. He would spread generosity and kindness everywhere. He wanted to make people feel included and loved. He enjoyed figuring out other people’s needs. He could light up even the darkest room on the darkest day. David served in the Army Reserves and was assigned to the 744th Engineering Company stationed in Ogden. He chose to serve in the Army because he was always seeking adventure. He completed Basic Training at Fort Leonard Wood in Missouri and served as a Combat Engineer. David said that while Basic was the hardest thing he ever did, it was also the most rewarding. He loved the camaraderie and brotherhood. David had a very special friendship with Brian Lunt. Brian was involved in all of David’s adventures. Although they started out as friends, they soon came to consider each other brothers. They were inseparable through thick and thin. In fact, though they weren’t assigned to go through Basic together, fate intervened and brought these two brothers together for their training. David was always willing to include his brothers, Marcus and Alexander, and sister, Sarah, in his adventures. It never occurred to him to leave them out or receive something without sharing with them. He was always the “shenanigator”. If he knew what drove people crazy, he enjoyed pushing their buttons. He was also the first to lead others into mischief. David had a sweet and tender place in his heart for his family. He sensed the needs of each of them individually and was able to love them in exactly the way they most needed to feel it. David is survived by his parents, Jeff and Crystal Norton, his paternal grandfather, Dean Norton, his paternal grandmother, Molly Norton, his maternal grandfather, Roy Watson, his maternal grandmother, Doril Watson, his sister Sarah Norton, and his brothers, Abram Phelon, Marcus Norton, and Alexander Norton. Funeral Services for David will be held Saturday, April 11th, at 1:00 pm, at Sunset Hills 3rd Ward, 1152 North 400 West, American Fork, Utah, where Viewings will be held Friday, April 10th, from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm, and prior to services on Saturday from 11:30 am to 12:30 pm.
