Dean W. Cloward
November 27, 1959 - August 18, 2017
Dean Willis Cloward of North Salt Lake, UT graduated from this life at the age of 57 on August 18, 2017, after a lifelong health battle concluding with pancreatic cancer. Dean was born in Provo, UT to Clyde C. Cloward and Verna Bigler Cloward on November 27, 1959. He was raised in Whittier, CA and Bountiful, UT and graduated from Bountiful High School in 1977. Dean married the love of his life, Linda Baker Cloward, on July 10, 1982. Dean was a retired box engineer of Utah PaperBox Company after 35 years with the corporation. In his spare time Dean could be found with either his wife, children, grandchildren, or his HOG family. He and his wife Linda were among a group of co-founders of the Toxic Hogs; Dean served as the Vice President. Together they rode, served the community – including the children at the Christmas Box House – and enjoyed great company. Even when Dean's health wasn't the best, he and Linda were in the midst of the bikes in the "cage" (aka car). Dean was loving, generous, humble, selfless, courageous, and resilient. He was a wonderful father and grandfather and loved nothing more than spending time with his loved ones. Dean is survived by his wife, Linda; daughters, Jenny (Burke) Devlin, and Julie Cloward (Taylor Doose); grandchildren, Aiden, Ellie, Zoe, and Ava; mother, Verna Bigler Cloward; siblings, Wendell (Roxanne) Cloward, Morris (Melinda) Cloward, and Marsha (Craig, deceased) Perry; mother-in-law, Theresa Timmins Baker; brother-in-law, Reynold Baker; and sister-in-law, Laura (James) Eliason. He is preceded in death by his father, Clyde Cloward; father-in-law, John Reynold Baker; brothers-in-law, Craig Perry and John Robert Baker; and his grandparents. A Viewing will be held on Thursday, August 24, 2017 from 4:00-5:30 pm at the LDS Chapel located at 55 E. 350 N., North Salt Lake, UT. Funeral Services will follow at 6:00 pm. Please use the West parking entrance due to road construction. Everyone is invited to participate in a short send-off ride following the funeral (bikes in the front, “cages” in the back). In lieu of flowers, Dean has requested donations be sent to Shriners Hospitals for Children, SLC. GoFundMe donations may be sent to P.O. Box 39 Bountiful, UT 84011. Special thanks for all the thoughts, prayers, and donations in the family's behalf. Funeral Directors: Utah Valley Mortuary.
