Dennis Howell Davis

January 2, 1943 - December 26, 2021

Dennis Howell Davis passed away peacefully in Cedar City, Utah, surrounded by family on December 26, 2021, after enduring leukemia and dementia for several years. He died one week before his 79th birthday. He was born on January 2, 1943 in Payson, UT to Beth Penrod Davis and Elbert Howell Davis. He married Connie Huntsman and they had five children together: Derick, Shan, Robert, Quinn and Mindy; they later divorced. Dennis grew up in Spanish Fork on a farm, where he worked alongside his siblings and parents to provide for themselves. He enjoyed playing baseball in the fields with his brothers. He graduated from Spanish Fork High School. After graduating, he took his love of baseball to college where he played for BYU while earning a degree in mechanical engineering. Dennis worked as an engineer in the aerospace industry in Colorado before settling in Richfield, UT where he raised his family. Dennis briefly taught drafting at Sevier Valley Technical College, then established his own business where he helped set up mapping for several counties throughout Utah. Dennis also had a long career designing homes and commercial projects. He loved welcoming families into his office and helping them make their dream home become a reality. While raising his family, Dennis loved and was actively involved in sports, as well as coached all of his children as they played. He enjoyed hunting, fishing and spending time in the beautiful mountains surrounding his home. He took pride in growing a large garden each year. He spent the later years of his life in Pleasant Grove and ultimately in Cedar City where he lived near his daughter in All Seasons Senior Living (formally Beehive Homes). The family would like to thank the facility staff for lovingly caring for him and tolerating his constant teasing. Dennis is survived by children Derick Davis, Monroe; Shan (Min) Davis, Las Vegas; Robert Davis, Eagle Mountain; Quinn (Natalie) Davis, Central Valley; Mindy (Tyler) Taylor, Cedar City; siblings, Jan Davis and Gary Davis, and many grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He is preceded in death by parents Elbert and Beth; siblings, Renae, Brent, and Gerald; and three infant grandsons. A Funeral Service will be held Friday, January 7, 2022 at 11:00 am at Utah Valley Mortuary, 1966 West 700 North, Lindon, UT, where a Viewing will be held prior to services at 10:00 am. Interment will be held in the Spanish Fork City Cemetery at 2:00 pm. Funeral Directors: Utah Valley Mortuary.
