July 9, 1938 - August 31, 2016

Diann was born July 9, 1938 in Los Angeles, California. She was the eldest child of Carl Frederick Benschneider and Lucille Bettinger. Diann spent her youth in Southern Californian. She attended Excelsior High School where she joined a roller derby team. She was sealed to the love of her life, Walter Cottle, in the Los Angeles Temple on June 18, 1956. Walt and Diann lived in Provo, Utah until Walt graduated from BYU. They moved their small family to Sacramento, CA, then to Ogden, UT and then Bountiful, UT. By this time the family had grown to six children. Diann graduated from the University of Utah with a Bachelor of Arts in Communications, and worked as a reporter and real estate agent. She had a passion for different cultures and experiences as well as a passion for writing, which she energetically pursued in the last decade of her life. Diann traveled the world at the side of her husband. She loved new experiences and challenges. She and Walt lived in New Zealand and Australia for over six years on assignment from the LDS Church, and Toronto, Canada for two years. Diann was thrilled to serve a mission with her beloved companion, Walt, to the south island of New Zealand. They served in the office as secretary and financial assistant. She is survived by her husband Walt, her six children: Lisa (Greg), Alan (Patty), Jolene (Russ), Robb (Karen), Gordon (Stephannie), and Chris (Amy), 25 grandchildren, 24 great grandchildren, and her sister Layne Benschneider. She is preceded in death by her parents, her brother Donald and sister Geraldine, and her grandsons Jason Harper and Devon Jones. Funeral Services will be held Wednesday, September 7th, at 11:00 am, at the Pilgrims Landing 4th Ward, 3679 North Bluegrass Blvd., Lehi, Utah, where a Viewing will be held prior from 10:00 to 10:45 am.
