Earl Dean Allan

August 21, 1928 - January 11, 2017

Earl Dean Allan was born August 21, 1928, in Salem, Utah, the first child of Jesse Glenwood and Ruby Dean Warren Allan.  He passed away peacefully, surrounded by family members, on January 11, 2017, in American Fork, Utah.   He is survived by his wife, Norma Tobiasson Allan, daughters Marta Lyn (Mark) Nielsen, Nancy Joanne (Jonathan) Craddock, Norma Jeanne (Ron) Dixon, Kristie Kay Patterson, Jana Sue (Danny) Wilson, Tami Lou (Andy) Gould, and sons, Randall Dean (Heidi Johnson) Allan, and James Earl (Lisa Bristol) Allan.  He is also survived by 45 grandchildren, 89 great-grandchildren, and three great-great-grandchildren.  He was preceded in death by his father and mother, a sister, DeEsta Ann, granddaughter, Elizabeth Nielsen, son-in-law, Douglas Patterson, and great-granddaughter, Kylie Kay Hill.    Earl Dean spent his early years in Salem and Salt Lake City, Utah.  During his teenage years his family lived in northern California, where he attended Shasta High School in Redding.  It was in a sophomore English class where he first saw a beautiful girl named Norma Tobiasson.  They dated all through high school until he proposed on graduation night.  They were married on April 2, 1948, in the Salt Lake Temple.   Earl Dean joined the Navy in June, 1946, and served for four years.  He also worked as a bricklayer, candy, bread, and milk deliveryman, and long-haul truck driver.   Earl Dean loved his family and spent as much time as he could with them.  He loved fishing, hunting, camping, and boating, electronics and two-way radio, and could fix almost anything.  He loved gardening and flowers, especially roses, and his pet dogs, and treated them as part of the family.  He polished rocks and created jewelry and other beautiful objects with them.  He had a great sense of humor and a very tender and giving heart.   Funeral Services will be held at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints “Red Church” at 165 North 100 East, Alpine, Utah, on Saturday, January 14, 2017, at 12:00 Noon.  Family and friends are invited to attend a viewing from 10:30 to 11:30 a.m. at the same location.  Interment will take place at the Springville, Utah, Evergreen Cemetery.   We love you and miss you, Dad.  You have given us a powerful example of how to lead our lives.  We will miss your smiling face and the tender love you have shown to Mom over the years.
