Elwin M Crandall
March 20, 1941 - June 9, 2021
Elwin M. Crandall passed away peacefully from cancer at home on June 9, 2021, surrounded by his family. He was born March 20, 1941, to Martin Oscar and Ella Sims Crandall in Twin Falls, ID. Elwin attended Twin Falls High School and graduated in 1959. His first job, at age 13, was working at Crandall Service Company. He was thrilled to save enough money to purchase his first car, a 1952 Oldsmobile 88 for $300 cash. He had many friends and loved scouting and attending youth dances. Elwin served a mission for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in the Central Atlantic States Mission from 1960 – 1962. When he returned home, he continued his job with his father at Crandall Service Company. He met Linda Joyce Stanger at the Canyon Country Club in Twin Falls ID. They were married in the Salt Lake Temple on June 10, 1965. They settled in Twin Falls ID and in 1967, their first daughter, Heidi Lynn, was born. Shortly after, they relocated to Elko NV, where Elwin began working for Amoco Oil. Their second daughter, Christina Joyce, was born there in 1970. They continued living in Elko for five more years before moving to Sandy, UT. Elwin worked for Amoco Oil for 11 years. In 1977, he started working for Jordan School District and stayed there for 32 years until he retired in 2009. Two more children arrived, Mark Elwin in 1976, and Michael Roy in 1979. As a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Elwin served as Young Men’s president, Elders Quorum President, and Sunday School President, but the calling he excelled at most was Home Teacher. He constantly served those he taught and his friends and neighbors. Elwin was there to help anytime anyone needed anything. Elwin and Linda moved to Pleasant Grove, UT after retirement. He is survived by his wife and children: Heidi (Doug) Scott, Christina (Ryan) Schulfer, Mark (Shauna Skaggs) Crandall, Michael (Heather LeFevre) Crandall, his stepmother Sharon Crandall, and siblings, Richard Crandall, Mary-Jane Johnson, and Ted Crandall.
