George Church

October 31, 1932 - June 5, 2020

George Donald Church, 87, of Pleasant Grove, Utah completed his earthly journey on Friday, June 5, 2020. He passed away peacefully, surrounded by many of his posterity at the Timpanogos Regional Hospital, in Orem, Utah. George was born on October 31, 1932 in Erie, Pennsylvania. George was the eldest of three children born to George and Flora Church. Together with his wife Darlene (deceased in 2016), George raised five children: Cindy (Ryan), Russell (Karen), Tracy (Ted), Steve (Bonnie), and Brian (Traci). George was the proud Grandfather to 21, and Great Grandfather to 40. George attended Harborcreek High School, in Harborcreek, PA (graduated 1950), where he played baseball, and was the Jr. Class President. George attended Brigham Young University, where he fell in love with the love of his life, Darlene. George and Darlene were married in the Manti, Utah temple in 1954. George later attended USC, where he earned a Masters in Public Administration. George was also honorably discharged from the United States Air Force as a pilot, and officer, reaching the rank of Captain. George retained a lifelong love of flying and anything related to airplanes. George loved the Gospel of Jesus Christ, and was a student of all things to do with The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. George held many leadership positions including twice as Bishop, and as a Counselor in a Stake Presidency. George and Darlene served three missions. They served in Toronto, Nauvoo, and at the Home Storage Center in Lindon, Utah. They also served in four temples: Seattle, Mesa, Timpanogos, and Nauvoo. George served as a Sealer in the Timpanogos temple. George was loved by many, was an example to all, and will be missed profoundly. In lieu of flowers, it is suggested that a donation be made to The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints General Missionary Fund. A private family graveside service with Military Honors will be held Friday, June 12th at the Pleasant Grove City Cemetery. Funeral Directors: Utah Valley Mortuary.
