Gordon Lawrence Connelly 1934 – 2015 Beloved Husband, Father, Grandfather, Great Grandfather, Brother, and Friend, Gordon Lawrence Connelly made his journey back to his heavenly home in the early morning hours of November 5, 2015. He died from complications of a stroke at 81 years of age. Gordon was born July 6, 1934, in Levan, Utah, to Anna Elizabeth Anderson and Ramsey Duncan Connelly. He was the sixth child in a family of seven children. His family moved to American Fork in 1942. Gordon later graduated from American Fork High School in 1952 and Brigham Young University in 1956, with a major in Business and minors in Finance, Banking and English. Gordon’s career in business began as an Automobile Insurance Underwriter for American Agencies, Inc., in 1956. Soon after, he went to work for Jess Monson at Monson & Company Insurance Agency in Provo, Utah. He later became part owner, and then managing partner of the agency. Gordon enjoyed a long and successful career as an Insurance Agent, meeting and helping people secure their property and protect their futures. In 1953, Gordon met the love of his life, Joyce Stott, whom he married in 1956. Together, they created a life full of love, laughter and children. Over their 59 married years together, Gordon and Joyce had six children, 15 grandchildren and 9 great grandchildren. The family enjoyed many wonderful trips together to Lake Powell, Hawaii and many other fun locations. Gordon and Joyce moved to Provo, Utah in 1962 and were active members in the LDS church. They lived in Provo for 43 years, in the Edgemont 8th Ward area. Gordon retired at 65 years of age and soon after that, he and Joyce served an LDS Mission in Las Vegas, Nevada. They enjoyed their mission so much; they repeated their service, a few years later, in an LDS Reactivating Mission in St. George, UT. Gordon and Joyce moved to Orem in 2002, and became part of the Sharon 6th Ward, where they were welcomed and treated with love and kindness. In his spare time, Gordon enjoyed fishing, hunting, boating, tending his garden, doing genealogy work and spending time with his family. He was an avid fan of BYU basketball and football and rarely ever missed a televised game. We are sure he’ll be rooting for the Cougars in Heaven!
