Hannah Elizabeth Jolley

March 27, 2008 - July 19, 2016

Hannah Elizabeth Jolley, much loved child of Brian and Melissa Jolley and best little sister of Cameron, Aaron, Emma, and Mason went to be with her Heavenly Father on July 19th as a result of HUS (Hemolytic Uremic Syndrome), a complication of the E. coli bacteria she contracted a few days earlier.  Primary Children's Hospital and the pediatric unit at Utah Valley Hospital took such good care of Hannah!  The nurses and doctors seemed instantly to understand what a beautiful child she is, and they blessed us not only with their medical expertise but also with such gentleness and compassion.   Our “Hannah Banana” came into this beautiful world on March 27, 2008 in American Fork, Utah.  How she loved the world and everything in it!  Her dresser drawers are filled with her rock and shell collections.  She climbed trees and made friends with every animal and flying or crawling thing that she could find.  She looked for rainbows and drew rainbows…everywhere and only came in the house when it was an absolute necessity….her life was always filled with color.  She jumped highest on the trampoline and pumped even higher on the swings, and the monkey bars were hardly ever a challenge.  She swam like a fish, ran so fast up and down the soccer field in her purple jersey, and could do any gymnastic trick anybody asked her to try.  And how many 8 year olds roam the sidelines of brother’s and sister’s soccer fields, collecting water bottles to recycle!    School was a joy for Hannah and she so loved her teachers and friends at Shelley Elementary.  Learning to read sent her off into new adventures, and she even started writing her own stories and keeping her own journals.  She turned cereal boxes into picture frames and shoe boxes into doll furniture.  Her room was a sanctuary for her creations from school and from the kitchen table, and when nothing more could be put on the wall or under the bed or in the closet, she reluctantly let her Mom thin the collection of crafts--so she could start again.   Always and forever, Hannah was trying to be like Jesus.  She was baptized just a few short weeks ago and loved to go to Primary and Activity Days.  Somehow she always knew when somebody wanted a friend or a hug, and you could be 3 or 96.  She knew her Father in Heaven, and she talked to Him often.  Last Sunday when Hannah was so sick and couldn’t think about eating, she asked for the sacrament when the missionaries brought it to her hospital room.  And Heavenly Father must have needed her more than we did because He let her go home…..maybe to take care of all the puppies that are surely in Heaven!   Hannah has gone for just a little while from her parents and brothers and sister who will continue to live their lives with great faith. This independent and spunky girl was a shining light in the lives of Grandpa and Grandma Robbins (David & Barbara), Grandpa and Grandma Jolley (Von & Patty), Great Grandpas Lyon and Jolley, Great Grandma Renshaw, and many aunts, uncles and cousins who have gathered to remember how much they love her.   Hannah’s life will be celebrated during a funeral service on Tuesday, July 26th, at 11:00 a.m. in the Spring Hollow 1st Ward building, 688 West 500 North, in American Fork, Utah.  Her family will greet friends at the same location on Monday, July 25th from 6:00-8:00 p.m., and Tuesday from 9:00-10:30 a.m. prior to the services. Interment in American Fork City Cemetery. Special thanks to the caring staff at Utah Valley Mortuary for their compassionate service. Funeral Directors: Utah Valley Mortuary.
