Jay Marlow Bennett
July 28, 1954 - December 29, 2016
Jay Marlow Bennett was born in the American Fork Hospital on July 28th, 1954. He was raised in Alpine and spent all but his 2 year mission to Argentina living and dying in Alpine. Upon returning from his mission he began training at trade tech (now UVU) becoming a technician. Shortly after he completed his education he began working for a company named Sperry. He worked at that location for nearly 40 years, which changed names so often he was once given a t-shirt with over 20 company names crossed out and his current company listed at the bottom. In the end he was working for L-3 Communications when he had to leave due to his declining health. He was a valued employee as well as a wonderful provider for his family of 6. He is survived by his wife, Susan Harper Bennett, his 4 children, Stacie Bennett, John Bennett, Virginia Bennett, and Ajsha Bennett. He is also survived by his parents and all of his siblings, Corene Gurney Bennett, and Marlow Bennett with his wife Elizabeth Bennett. His siblings are Kaylene Chadwick and her husband Dale Chadwick, LaMar Bennett and his wife Jill Bennett, LaVon Bennett and his wife Leah Bennett, DeeRay Bennett and his wife Danette Bennett, Kenneth Bennett and his wife Casey Bennett, and finally Darrin Bennett and his wife Jamilyn Bennett. His amazing talents were constantly being uncovered. He could fix almost anything that needed to be fixed. He was proficient at cooking, sewing, carpentry, woodworking, masonry, mechanicing, stained glass, construction, and electrical systems just to name a few. He came from a long line of intelligent, inovative, and creative people and it showed. He was a problem solver and loved to find ways to improve everything he was given. His hobbies included hunting, fishing, camping, spending time with family, finding new recipes, and finding fun new projects. He loved animals and always had or wanted a black cat around, and he considered them to be the best color of cat. He loved the holidays and wanted to spread cheer around as far as he could, generally spending weeks leading up to the event making treats for neighbors and friends alike. Jay will be greatly missed by all who knew him. He passed away after a three year battle with colon cancer on December 29th, 2016. Funeral Services will be held Wednesday, January 4, 2017, at 11:00 am, at the Deerfield Ward, 676 Eagleview Drive, Alpine, UT, where Viewings will be held Tuesday, January 3rd, from 6:00-8:00 pm and prior to services on Wednesday from 9:30-10:30 am.
