Jeff McAllister

October 26, 1957 - June 2, 2020

On June 2, 2020, our beloved father, husband and son, Jeffrey Scott McAllister, returned to his heavenly home after sustaining injuries in a motorcycle accident. He was 62 years old. Jeff was born October 26, 1957 in Tooele, Utah to Dale and Faye McAllister, the fourth of their five children. He grew up in Orem, Utah and graduated from Orem High School in 1975. Jeff was a loving son, an adventurous brother, and an inquisitive learner. He was famous for asking “Why?” to everything, which later manifested in his successful career as a mechanical engineer. Jeff was a faithful member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. In 1977, he served a two-year mission in Kobe, Japan where he grew to love the people there and created lifelong friendships. Throughout his life, he served in many capacities in the church, but his favorite was working with youth. He loved young people and forged special, lasting connections with them. In 1980, while attending BYU, Jeff met the love of his life, Caroline Lawson, who he liked to call “Doll”. They married on December 30th of that year in the LDS Temple in Oakland, California. Together they enjoyed 39 years of marriage and brought 5 beautiful children into the world. His children were the light of his life and he loved supporting each of them in their hobbies and talents. His favorite pastime was camping with family. He looked forward to family time in the mountains in his yellow “fixer upper” camping trailer. He also had a passion for music and spent much of his time performing in choirs and encouraging his children to develop their own artistic talents. Jeff graduated from BYU in 1985 with a degree in Mechanical Engineering and took a job at Hewlett Packard in Boise, Idaho. There he raised his family and was a devoted employee for 33 years, receiving more than three dozen patents for ingenuity, as well as many other accolades. He loved his work, but his favorite HP memories were having his kids and grandkids come visit him for lunches, and playing intense games of volleyball with work friends. One of Jeff’s most quintessential qualities was his kindness. He truly loved everyone and consistently demonstrated it through his actions. He had a sincere interest in others and would reach out to engage family and friends in meaningful conversation whenever possible. Jeff accomplished so much in his 62 short years. His demonstration of steadfast faith, willing service, and constant kindness is imprinted on his children, grandchildren, and friends. He made sure we knew the gospel of Jesus Christ was one of his most treasured possessions. We also knew his other greatest treasure was our mother. He was devoted to her, showing his love through time and attention, continually reminding his kids to do the same. Dad we will miss you dearly, think of you always, and love you forever. Jeff is survived by his wife Caroline Lawson McAllister, his children Amber (Rick) Swensen, Tyler (Kindra) McAllister, Heather (Ethen) Roberts, Molly (Trey) Skousen, Dallin (Madeleine) McAllister, 13 grandchildren, his parents Dale and Faye McAllister, and his siblings Mike (Debby) McAllister, Craig (Anna Rae) McAllister, and Cindy (Joel) Tuaileva. He is preceded in death by his younger brother Kevin Leo McAllister. A public viewing will be held Friday, June 12th from 6:00 to 8:00 pm at Utah Valley Mortuary, 1966 West 700 North, Lindon, Utah. A family funeral service will follow the next morning, Saturday, June 13th at 10:00 a.m. Due to Covid-19 restrictions, the funeral will also be live streamed for friends and extended family who wish to attend at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, 1920 North 500 West, Lehi, Utah for the first 99 people that arrive. ALL are invited to the graveside service immediately following the funeral at American Fork City Cemetery. We ask that social distancing rules are followed and wearing of masks is suggested. Those who are not able to attend may watch the service live on Jeff’s Facebook page at the following link https://www.facebook.com/jeff.mcallister.12. Funeral Directors: Utah Valley Mortuary.
