Mrs. Joan Goodson Fielding
May 4, 1932 - June 21, 2013
Joan fought her battle with cancer with grace and courage. She passed away June 21, 2013 in her home surrounded by her family. Joan was born in Idaho Falls, Idaho, to Jacob and Maud Goodson. She was the seventh of ten children. She was raised on a farm in Ammon, Idaho. She served a mission in the Southwest Indian Mission in New Mexico and Arizona. She later attended BYU where she met Jay Fielding. They were married in the Idaho Falls Temple. Jay and Joan lived most of their lives together in Orem, Utah. Service in the church was an important part of Joan’s life. She was a Relief Society President, a Primary President and had many other callings in the church. She was grateful to her Savior and the example He was to her. Joan was an incredibly loving, kind and patient person and the best Mother/Grandmother in the world! She loved and served her family all her life. She is survived by her husband, Jay; children, Lisa, Shauna (Lance) Shurtleff, Curtis (Amy), Scott (Nicole), Pam (Eric) Aldridge, Todd (Tracy), Michael (Angela); 22 grandchildren; brothers, Dale, Earl and Gary; sisters, Wilma, Eva, Ruth and Carolyn. Funeral Services will be held Wednesday, July 3rd, at 11:00 am, at the Lakeridge 4th Ward Chapel, 158 E. 1100 S., Orem, Utah where Visitations will be held Tuesday, July 2nd, from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm, and prior to services on Wednesday from 9:30 am to 10:30 am. Interment in Orem City Cemetery, 1520 N. 800 E., Orem, Utah. Funeral Directors: Utah Valley Mortuary. Condolences may be expressed to the family at www.uvfuneral.com.
