Mr. Keith Reese Mecham
April 5, 1921 - August 15, 2011
Keith Reese Mecham of Wallsburg, UT, passed away peacefully Monday, August 15, 2011, surrounded by his family. Keith was born on April 5, 1921 in Wallsburg, UT, to Lewis Otis and Jessie Mae Mecham. He grew up in Mountain Home, UT, and Arcadia, UT. Keith served in World War II from 1942-1945. He was awarded the Bronze Star. Keith married Faye Sabey in Wallsburg on Oct. 25, 1946. Their marriage was solemnized in the Provo Temple April 19, 1989. After 62 years of marriage Faye passed away December 20, 2008. Keith worked for Geneva Steel for 37 years. Keith has been active in the community, serving as Town Board President for 8 years. He served on the Wasatch County planning commission for 14 years. He was a temple worker at the Provo and Mount Timpanogos Temples. He also was an avid Jazz and BYU fan, but first and foremost he was a loving husband, father, and grandfather. Survived by his four children, Randall (Debi) of Orem, LaVerl (Sheri) of Wallsburg, Don (Pam) of Harrisville, and Tammy (Keith) Tanner of Payson; 12 grandchildren, 11 great grandchildren and three great-great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife, Faye; brothers, Edward, Harold, Lewis, and Reed; sisters, Artemisia, Emma, Myrth and Jenny Lee. Keith’s family would like to thank his many loving neighbors and the care workers of Hearts for Hospice for providing such comfort and compassion. Thank you also to the nurses at Timpanogos Hospital; especially MeKell and Heather. A Viewing will be held Saturday, August 20th from 9:00 am to 10:40 am followed by a Funeral Service at 11:00 am in the Wallsburg LDS Chapel, 494 Main Canyon Road, Wallsburg, UT. Interment in Wallsburg Cemetery.
