Kimberly Stilson
September 21, 1964 - January 22, 2017
Heaven won a phenomenal, wonderful, and spectacular soul last Sunday, Kimberly Power Stilson. Kimberly’s vibrant soul travelled through the veil on January 22nd, 2017. She was surrounded by family and friends as she completed her mission on Earth. Kim was born to Geoffrey Power and Joanne Jorgensen in Downey, California on September 21st, 1964. Kim had a love for life and exemplified this every day. Kim loved dogs and often brought them home and she spent her youth making friends and mentoring (sometimes torturing) her younger siblings. She played pranks on people often, played powder puff football, and joined the cheer squad. Kim was in the center of all of the action and people would often call her home and ask what Kim was doing, because she would inevitably be off having fun. Kim graduated from La Mirada High School, and attended Cerritos Jr. College while she worked hard to make her way to Brigham Young University. When Kim set a goal, she would work until she met it. Kim made things happen. Kim thrived in college, she made many friends and connections and would often bring them with her when she visited home. Kim had the incredible ability to meet someone, and in seconds they would feel like they have known her for their entire lives. She made each person she came into contact with feel special and loved. She was known for leaving kind notes and quoting famous people and poems often. She was truly loved by each person that knew her. Kim met her eternal companion, Chad, at the Historic Utah County Courthouse where Kim was working for Senator Bennett. One day she was threatened by an angry constituent eluding to carrying a weapon. Kim called security, unbeknownst to the man, and asked for a certain file. Chad, then a security officer for the Courthouse, said you have the wrong number and hung up. Kim called once more and asked for the file again. Chad, now suspecting something was wrong went to check it out, but when he got there the guy had gone. When Chad interviewed Kim for the report, Kim’s beauty did not go unnoticed, but what really impressed Chad was Kim comment about the situation, “I would have been okay, I know karate.” After that, Chad was known as her hero. They were sealed in the Salt Lake City Temple on July 29th, 1993. Kim lead a vivacious life. She didn’t shy away from change, opportunity, or adventure. She interned in New York, taught English in Japan, built businesses, and paved her way in the world. She absorbed all she could in life. She enjoyed painting, writing, poetry, reading, picnic-ing, and spontaneous travel. There was never an “ordinary” day with Kim. She made every day and every lesson special. She would set up the formal dining table on Sundays to teach her children, the 3 M’s, table manners, she would make a game of picking up rooms by suggesting they only use their feet to pick up everything, and had her children perform weekly acts of service. She loved her children and wanted them to have the tools to lead an exceptional life. We all have a profound connection with Kim, that will continue to endure through this life and into the next. She will continue to guide us and work to make things happen for us from the other side. If she could say anything to you now, it would be: “Love, love, love.” Kimberly is survived by her husband Chad Stilson, and her three children: Madelyne (Bryce) DeNovellis, McKall and Merrick Stilson. Kim is also survived by her mother and five siblings: Joanne Jorgensen Power, Geoffrey (Melanie) Power, Evelyn (Mike) Bilotta, Dennis (Heather) Power, Charles (Amanda) Power, Catherine (Billy) Eppler. Kim’s nieces and nephews are: Ashley (Hunter) Garner and kids, Whitney (Chris) Ridl and child, Zachary (Kylie) Power and kids, Elliot Power, Calvin (Rachel) Power, Isabelle Power, Evan Bilotta, Christian Bilotta, Jesse Power, Mikayla Power, Olivia Power, Charlie Power, and Xander Eppler.
