Marianne Liddle
January 5, 1972 - August 30, 2019
Marianne Liddle, 47, of Pleasant Grove, returned to her Heavenly Father on Friday, August 30, 2019, following a long illness. Marianne was born on January 5, 1972, in Mountain View, California, the daughter of Alfred Sorensen Liddle and Jo Ann Stevens Liddle. Marianne was a life-long member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. She had a deep love for Jesus Christ, and was anxious to finish her life’s journey faithfully so she could be worthy to live in God’s presence. She served well in many church assignments, which included humanitarian work, bulletin coordinator duties, and other support capacities. One of her defining talents was her gift with the written word. This was evident by the vast number of missionaries who benefited from her frequent letters and the exquisite homemade birthday cards with notes she made and gave to many of her family and friends. Her poetry was prolific, and served as a window into her soul and suffering. Marianne suffered ill health throughout her life. She contracted leukemia at the tender age of three. Chemotherapy and high doses of radiation brought remission in mere months, but also caused her to have multiple brain tumors starting in young adulthood, leading to various surgeries and treatments thereafter. She endured enough pain to fill a few lifetimes. Despite all this, she accomplished a great many things in her short life! She graduated from Independence High School in San Jose, California, in 1990. She pursued further education at nearby Mission College and later at Utah Valley State College, studying Hospitality Management. She was an excellent baker, the fruits of which were enjoyed by all! She did her best to serve others, despite being in near-constant pain. She adored flowers of all kinds, and had the greenest of thumbs. She enjoyed music of all kinds, and loved people from all walks of life, even many whom she never met in person. She was quick to encourage anyone who suffered in any way. She offered free gift wrapping services during the Christmas season, and delighted in dressing up for Halloween, insisting on greeting all children who stopped at her door. Her spirit animal was a lone wolf and gave rise to her self-selected nickname, “Mannywolf”. She was beloved by all who knew her, including those in her local congregation of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, classmates, and many others. We love you so much Manny, and though we will miss you, we are so happy that you are free! Marianne is survived by her parents, Alfred Sorensen Liddle and Jo Ann Stevens Liddle, of Pleasant Grove and by ten siblings and their spouses: Jim (Suzanne) Liddle of Scottsdale, Arizona; Stephen (Melody) Liddle and David (Tara) Liddle of Orem, Utah; Susan (Steven) Theobald of Holladay,Utah; Rebecca (Michael) Smith of South Jordan, Utah; John (Angela) Liddle of Stockton, Utah; Joseph Liddle and Geneva (Wade) Markley of Pleasant Grove; Nathan (Lisa) Liddle of Lehi, Utah; and Andrew (Teresa) Liddle of Visalia, California. She is also survived by over 50 beautiful nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews whom she loved dearly. Funeral Services will be held Wednesday, September 11th, at 11:00 am, at the Battle Creek 3rd Ward, 1222 Nathaniel Drive, Pleasant Grove, Utah, where Viewings will be held Tuesday, September 10th from 6:30 to 8:30 pm, and prior to services on Wednesday from 9:30 to 10:30 am. Interment in Pleasant Grove Cemetery, 500 North 100 West, Pleasant Grove, Utah. Marianne’s family also wishes to express deep appreciation to Cascades at Orchard Park Rehabilitation, Orem, Utah, for their loving care given throughout her last year of life. Appreciation is also to Envision Hospice for helping her through the difficulties of her passing. Thanks to Matt Davis and staff at Utah Valley Mortuary for help with funeral arrangements.
