Marilyn Eldridge

February 8, 1950 - December 28, 2021

Marilyn Louise Duncan Eldridge’s Life Sketch Our sweet, angel Mother was received into our Savior’s arms and joyfully reunited with many lost loved ones on December 28th, 2021. Marilyn Louise Duncan was born on February 8th, 1950 in Key West, Florida to the lovely LaRae Garis Stewart Duncan and Howard Napoleon Duncan. She was a nurturing and loving big sister to Dennis, Sharyl, Brynn, and Liz. Marilyn’s father was in the Navy, and as many know with that profession, their family had the opportunity to live in many different places. Marilyn and her family lived in southern California, Guam, Hawaii, back to California, the Great Lakes Naval Station, New Hampshire, and last but definitely not least… Utah. Marilyn has an incredible legacy that she has left behind. She was born to become a Mother and it was her gift to be a loving Mother not only to her own family but to everyone who came into her life. She left behind 9 children, 39 grandchildren, and 8 great grandchildren with 2 more little ones on the way. All who have been blessed with her strong faith, love and testimony. Marilyn met her sweetheart for the first time in New Hampshire, not realizing who he was and who he would become. Steve was in New Hampshire on a mission, Marilyn was the pianist in their small branch. Years later they ran into each other at registration at BYU. After a sweet courtship Steve proposed to Marilyn. Her response was unexpected, “I can’t, my Dad will kill me!” Luckily Steve was persistent and asked her again, this time Marilyn couldn’t resist, despite what her Dad might say. On July 25, 1969 Marilyn and Steve were married and sealed together for time and all eternity in the Manti Temple, the only temple in Utah open the weekend they were married. In May of 1970 Marilyn and Steve had the first of nine children. Only 10 months later Marilyn surprised Steve, currently in Vietnam, with the news of two beautiful twin daughters. After three busy years with three little ones they continued building their incredible family with six more wonderful children. Marilyn always desired a big family and would have continued having more children if her physical body would have allowed her. Sixteen years later, Heavenly Father blessed Marilyn and Steve with the opportunity to raise two lively, sweet, and infectiously happy twin granddaughters. She found so much joy in raising these twin girls who in return kept Marilyn a young, hip Grandmother. Marilyn found so much joy in serving others, beginning with her husband and children, continuing with her friends, neighbors, and her ward family. She loved her Savior Jesus Christ, she loved His church, The Church of Jesus Christ of Latterday Saints. As a result, she loved, magnified and fulfilled every calling in the Gospel she ever received. She found so many ways to serve others. Even in her later years when she didn’t have the same physical abilities, she found creative ways to serve and to love others. One of her greatest gifts and acts of service was sharing her love and testimony through uplifting music. She spent hours around the piano singing and playing music with her children surrounding her, singing along with her. Marilyn was a wonderful example of giving Christlike love to all who came into her life. Her huge heart and love for our Savior changed so many lives and brought so many to the Gospel. She Is A True Disciple Of Christ. Marilyn was survived by her sweetheart Steven Allen Eldridge. Her brothers Dennis Duncan, Brynn Duncan, and her sister Elizabeth Jane Duncan. Nine children: Bill Eldridge, Sandy (Spencer) Young, Brenda (Daniel) Arbon, Tami Eldridge, Suzie Little, Benjamin (Autumn) Eldridge, Ryan (Sharyn) Eldridge, David (Amber) Eldridge, Amy (Kirk) Greene. Thirty-nine grandchildren, and ten great-grandchildren. Written by her loving twin daughters, Brenda Arbon and Sandy Young Funeral Services will be held Tuesday, January 4, 2022, at 11:00 am, at the Lindon 20th Ward located at 56 East 600 North, Lindon, Utah, where a Viewing will be held prior to services from 9:30 to 10:30 am.
