Mavis Gray

Mavis Gray, 94, long time resident of Marshalltown, Iowa, passed away in American Fork, Utah on Sunday, May 29, 2022 surrounded by her family. Visitation will be on Friday, June 10, 2022 at Mitchell Funeral Home from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm. Services will be held on Saturday, June 11, 2022 at 11:00 am with a viewing being held from 9:00 to10:45 am at the First Presbyterian Church in Marshalltown. Interment will be at Rose Hill Cemetery in Marshalltown, Iowa. Mavis was born on February 9, 1928 in New Albin, Iowa to Rudolph and Minna (Meyer) Jordan. She lived in Iowa most of her life, graduating from the University of Northern Iowa with bachelor and master’s degrees in education. She was a teacher and principal at Green Mountain, and GMG for over thirty years. She enjoyed being with her family, traveling and camping, crocheting, quilting, taking much pleasure in her flower gardens, and meeting with her friends and family at her church. Mavis is survived by her children: Robert Gray of Fort Worth, Texas, Linda (Steve) Fogarty of Farmington, Iowa, Pamela (Greg) Bowles of Provo, Utah, and daughter-in-law Janet Anderson. Grandchildren Ryan (Erika), Scott (Amy), Greg (Tiffany), Scott (Laura), Erin (Ryan), Tucker, Andrew (Rachel), and Ian (Kira). She is also survived by 14 great-grandchildren and many wonderful friends. Mavis was preceded in death by her husband, Martin, parents Rudy and Minna Jordan, siblings Marie, Sigurd, Edward, and son John. Memorials may be sent to the First Presbyterian Church, 101 S.
