Patricia McClure

May 22, 1947 - June 8, 2020

Our beloved Patricia passed away peacefully at her home in Orem, Utah on June 8th, 2020, after a valiant year and a half battle with pancreatic cancer. She would always brag about her and Alex Trebek being in the 18th percentile survival rate. #AlexTrebek. Patricia was born and raised in North Ogden, UT. to LeRoy and Genevieve Berrett Taylor on May 22, 1947. She was the oldest of 4 children and is survived by her siblings: Sheila Peterson (Rod), Richard (Bonnie), and Colleen Johnson (Rick). On April 7th, 1967 she married her sweetheart Richard Olen McClure and was sealed for time and all eternity in the Salt Lake Temple. They started their family in Utah, moved to California, Montana, and then after 19 years came back home to Utah. No matter where they lived, she made lifelong friends and left everlasting impressions. She was an amazing woman, loving and accepting of all without judgments. Her love was real. Patricia loved the Lord with all her heart. As a faithful member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, she served in many capacities. She especially loved serving with her sisters in the Relief Society and her primary children. She loved serving in the Temple with Richard and as senior fulltime missionaries in the Rapid City South Dakota Mission from 2012-2014. Patricia also enjoyed opportunities to work within the community, such as: working on the Highland Piper Newspaper, scouting, a variety of educational committees and was also a member of the Daughters of Utah Pioneers. Not only was she an accomplished homemaker, she loved working for the Church Education System as a support specialist for the Utah Valley North Area office. Patricia loved family activities, family history, was an avid reader, enjoyed fishing, cultural events, music, travel, square dancing, lemonade girls, and the rain. She loved learning, laughing, flowers, journaling, and was a great organizer. She recently began creating poems. She is preceded in death by her father and mother, and sister-in-law Wendy Taylor. Patricia is survived by her husband Richard, children, Stephanie Hardy (Alan), Heidi Denton (Michael), Erik, Aaron, Shelby Hansen (Breton), Phillip (Maaike), Mindy Stevens (John); 16 grandchildren and 3.5 great grandchildren whom she enjoyed greatly. She had the ability to make each one feel loved and important. Special thanks to Dr. Esplin’s oncology office and Maple Creek Hospice for their tender care. A Viewing will be held Thursday, June 11th, at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints meeting house located at 90 North 600 West, Orem Utah from 5:00 to 7:00 pm. A Graveside service will be Friday, June 12th, at 11:00 am held at the Ben Lomond Cemetery located at 526 East 2850 North, North Ogden, Utah. In consideration of COVID-19, please follow state health recommendations. Funeral Directors: Utah Valley Mortuary.
