Interment in Orem City Cemetery, 1520 North 800 east, Orem, Utah. All her family and friends called her Laly. She was born in Chancay, a quiet town on the coast near Lima, the capital of Peru. She grew up close to nature since her parents (Pedro Matta & Carmen Cahuas) were farmers. When she was married, she and her husband (Fernando Noriega Wenzel) had a chicken and hen farm where there were many fruit and shade trees. She was united in marriage to H. Fernando Noriega Wenzel on May 30, 1952 in Chancay, Lima Peru. He preceded her in death on October 11, 1982. They were married for 30 years. Laly was a smart and lovely woman who dearly loved her children and grandchildren. She was dedicated to her family all her life. She was a great cook and her family and friends enjoyed her food. She loved to teach whoever wanted to learn about the secrets of a good Peruvian meal. Laly was the missionary of the family. She taught the gospel to some of her children, grandchildren, other relatives, neighbors, and friends. She was a great visiting teacher and had a great spirit of service and loved to visit the sick and the needy. She was a very compassionate person and taught her children to help one another. A common phrase of hers was: “The one who has more must help the one who has less.” Just days before her passing she whispered to her daughter Margarita: “The family is very important!” She is survived by her children and their spouses: Isabel Noriega & Manuel Cordova (UT), Ada Noriega & Dennis Frank (UT), Margarita Noriega & Eduardo Durand (UT), Ines Noriega & Daniel Cirio (France), Fernando Noriega & Monica Cieza (Peru), 16 grand children, 13 great grand children, two sisters Zarela & Bertila Matta, two brothers Pedro Jose and Carlos Matta, three sisters-in-law Eutropia Huapaya, Martha Ramirez & Cristina Lopez, and two brothers-in-law Manuel Ramirez & Arturo Ramos.
