Ronald Edward Housewright

December 30, 1939 - May 19, 2021

Ronald (Ronnie) Edward Housewright, son of Merle & Agnes (Nelson) Housewright, 81 passed away in his sleep, at his home in Orem Utah on May 19, 2021. He was in the Graduating class of 1958 at Hamilton High School in Hamilton Illinois. In 1963 he joined the United States Airforce, he was with the Airforce for 4 years. He finished his military career by serving 25 years in the Army National Guard. After attending Carthage College for a short while, he went on to get a master's degree in chemistry from Columbia College in 1974. At the age of 36 he moved to Batesville Arkansas where he met his wife Kathy, they married in 1980. Shortly after he received a job offer from the Federal Government testing soil samples and drinking water. This job would take him and his family to Tifton Georgia and then across the country to Rio Linda California. He continued to work for the Federal Government for 20 years before retiring to Utah at the age of 66. Ron loved the outdoors, in his earlier years he enjoyed spelunking which sometimes got him into some hairy situations. He was absolutely fascinated with geology and astronomy. I am not sure that there was a time in his adult life where he did not own a telescope. He loved rock hunting and could tell you the name, origin, and more times than not the composition of any rock. He was a tinkerer and always had multiple projects in the garage. He loved reading and math. Sometimes you would find him doing calculus for fun. He was an encyclopedia of knowledge; his continuous curiosity was admirable. He always saw the best in people, his kindness towards people and animals was exceptional. He was a smart gentle man who had an unquenchable thirst for knowledge until his dying day. He is survived by his wife Kathy, sons Semisi and Jordan, and his daughter MacKenzie. As well as his 9 grandchildren. He is also survived by his 2 younger brothers Gilbert and Dennis Housewright. Funeral Services will be held Tuesday, May 25th, at 12:00 Noon, at the Heatheridge 6th Ward located at 450 East 2000 North, Orem, Utah, where a Viewing will be held prior to services from 10:00 to 11:45 am. Interment in Orem City Cemetery. All are welcome.
