Ruth Deanna McDonald

Ruth Deanna McDonald, 82, passed away Thursday, 27, 2022 in Lehi, Utah. She was born September 27, 1939 in Riverside, California to Harry Oscar Paul and Maria Maathuis. She was married to James Cox McDonald on November 18, 1956, the marriage was solemnized in the Mt. Timpanogos Temple on April 27, 2013. Mom was talented and loved to create things with her hands. Sewing clothes for her and for her children. Knitting and crocheting hats and scarves for her entire family. Later in life she taught herself to quilt. Tole and folk-art painting provided many beautiful items for her home and her family as she often painted for others. Mom loved to read! She also loved the gospel of Jesus Christ and read her scriptures daily in her later years. Most importantly mom loved her family. She is survived by her 4 children Patrick (Cheri), Michael (Karey), Cindy, and Dennis (Brenda). She is also survived by 11 grandchildren, 16 great grandchildren, her youngest brother Thomas, and many nieces and nephews. Preceded in death by her husband Jim, mother and father, 2 brothers. Funeral Services will be held Friday, Feb 4th, at 12:00 pm, at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints Northridge 14th Ward, 1875 North 280 West, Orem, Utah, where a Viewing will be held prior to services from 11:00 to 11:45 am. Interment and graveside service to follow at 2:00 pm at Mountain View Memorial Estates Cemetery, 3115 East Bengal Blvd, Cottonwood Heights, Utah. Funeral Directors: Utah Valley Mortuary.
