Shanda J Swafford
November 20, 1975 - February 2, 2014
Our beloved wife and mother, Shanda J Swafford, 38, passed away unexpectedly on Sunday, February 2, 2014 at her home in Nephi, Utah. She was born November 20, 1975 in Valdosta, GA to Mary R. Smith and George T. Beckworth. Shanda grew up in Venice, FL and enjoyed the beach, swimming, and fishing. Outdoors was her favorite place to be. These past times followed her throughout her life even as she moved to Orem, UT in 1990. Shanda attended Orem High School and went to Weber Basin Job Corps were she completed her High School and graduated. She attended Stevens Heneger College and obtained her license for Phlebotomy. Shanda loved the outdoors and all it had to offer. She would often be found fishing, camping, shooting guns, or just enjoying time with her family. She loved making crafts that honored special times in all her children’s lives and you could find them everywhere in her home. Shanda is survived by her husband, Michael Swafford; children, Aubree Thompson, Kylee Thompson, DJ Thompson, Camisha Thompson, and Weston Thompson; grandson D. Ryker Bernhardt; mother, Mary Smith; step-father, Lou Smith; she was preceded in death by her grandmother, Joyce Hansen. A Memorial service will be held Saturday, Feb 8, 2:00 pm at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, 310 North 100 East, Orem, UT. There will be a small lunch gathering following the service. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made through the “Shanda Swafford Children” fund at any Security Service Federal Credit Union.
