Timothy Luke Kenny
March 31, 1967 - May 3, 2014
Timothy Luke Kenny, passed away peacefully, Saturday afternoon, May 3rd, in the home of his in-laws in Orem, Utah, which had been serving as hospice for his last days. Tim had fought valiantly to overcome a very debilitating and painful disease known as Scleroderma. Because Tim was a fighter, he did survive much longer than doctors had anticipated. Tim was born March 31, 1967, in Astoria, Queens, New York, to his parents Vincent and Teresa. He grew up in Long Island and later made both Arizona and Utah his home. A long-time New York Giants fan, Tim also loved motorcycles and most of all, people. He loved helping people and was always finding ways to lift up those around him. Early in his life, Tim demonstrated an affinity and considerable talent for becoming a Chef. He eventually achieved that goal by attending a prestigious culinary school and helping his friend start a successful New York Pizzeria in Arizona. After serving as a chef for several fine restaurants, Tim achieved his long-standing goal of opening up his own catering business. In 1996, along with his then wife, April, they started Kenny’s Catering from the kitchen of their apartment in Salt Lake City. Within a few months, they had outgrown the kitchen and opened up a professional facility and became one of the largest and most successful caterers in the state. Tim was known for being a gregarious, self- reliant individual, with many friends and loved ones. He is survived by his parents Teresa (Raymond) Sanwald, and Vincent (Isabella) Kenny, two sisters, Tara Kenny Valencia, and Marikate Kenny Valenzuela . He is also survived by his fiancé Andrea Lee and his former wife, April Emmons Kenny, and their 12-year old son, Jaden Kenny. He was preceded in death by his brother Kevin Thomas Kenny, and Paternal Grandparents Luke and Eileen Kenny; Maternal Grandparents Thomas and Margaret Baldwin; Aunt and Uncle Eileen and Ralph "Bob" Gentile; Uncle Daniel Cleary. His family would like to express their deep gratitude for all the many doctors, nurses and hospital staff who cared for him throughout his struggle and to the wonderful people of Utah Valley Mortuary who have helped us through this difficult time.
