Vera C Christensen
September 15, 1924 - December 23, 2016
Vera Cahoon Christensen, 92, peacefully went home on Friday, December 23, 2016, in Lindon, Utah. She was born September 15, 1924, in Mammoth, Utah, to Raymond Spencer and Louie Morrison Cahoon. She married her sweetheart Keith Willmor Christensen 70 years ago on November 8, 1946, in the Salt Lake LDS Temple. They are the parents of five children – Douglas Keith (Linda Swan) Christensen, Ann (Larry) Goodwin, Catherine (Rod) Cloward, Lynda (Greg) Baldwin, and Steven Willmor (Michelle Brown) Christensen. They are blessed with 26 grandchildren and 61 great-grandchildren, with more on the way. Vera grew up in Salt Lake City, graduating from East High School and attending the University of Utah. She was an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, and loved serving in stake and ward Relief Society presidencies, the Saint George LDS Temple, and as a missionary in the Salt Lake City Mission with her husband. She also loved serving her family and friends and was always generous with her time and talents. Vera loved creating beautiful ceramics and porcelain and helping others do the same with the kiln in her home. She had the ability to sew beautifully for her children and her home, as well as creating many beautiful little white dresses for the LDS Humanitarian Aid. Vera loved cooking and entertaining and always decorated her tables in beautiful colors and arrangements. Above all, Vera had a kind and loving heart, a sweet, tender and generous nature, a beautiful smile and blue eyes. She was preceded in death by her parents, her brothers Douglas Raymond and Glen Spencer Cahoon, her son Douglas Keith Christensen, and her grandson Jason Cloward. Funeral services will be Tuesday, December 27, 2016, at 11:00 a.m. at the Battle Creek 3rd Ward Meetinghouse, 1222 Nathaniel Drive, Pleasant Grove, Utah, with a viewing prior to the service from 9:30 – 10:45 a.m. Interment will be at the Memorial Mountain View Cemetery, 3115 East 7800 South, Cottonwood Heights, Utah.
