Wayne Ford

December 25, 1940 - January 4, 2016

Wayne Calvin Ford 75, of Benjamin Utah completed his life journey at Mountain View Hospital, Payson Utah on January 4, 2016. Wayne was born in Salt Lake City on December 25, 1940 as a Christmas gift for his parents Claude and Jenoice (Mounteer) Ford. He was the oldest of 7 with 4 sisters and 2 brothers. He had many childhood friends that continued throughout his life. Wayne joined the Army and served from 1957-1959 2 days following his honorable discharge he enlisted in the Navy and served from 1959-1963. During his time in the Navy while on stationed in California he met his Bride to Be Patricia (Pat) Rose Foley. They were married at the Little Chapel in Las Vegas NV on October 13, 1962 and established a home in Salt Lake City. Shortly after Wayne’s ship was deployed on a classified mission at an undisclosed location. During that time, he was unable to have any contact with his new bride or family. He was honorably discharged from his Naval Service in 1963. Shortly following his return home Pat gave birth to their daughter Cindy Jenoice Ford and 2 years later their son Dale Aaron Ford. It was a quite a while later that his family learned during the time he was unreachable he had been in the waters around Cuba due to the Cuban missile crisis. In 1972, after graduating from Salt Lake Technical College with a degree in Printing, Wayne moved his family to Santaquin UT where he worked as a city employee as well as a volunteer firefighter. Never one to sit still Wayne pursued numerous hobbies over his lifetime from leather work, beading, fly tying and painting until he found a passion for wood carving. His greatest joy was in carving and painting items and gift them to family and friends. He was a High Priest in the Church of Jesus Christ Church Benjamin Second Ward, Benjamin, UT He was a longtime member of the Benevolent and Protective Order of Elks Provo 849 Lodge where he performed many duties and held several key positions. Wayne is survived by Pat his loving wife of 53 years, his children Cindy and Dale 9 grandchildren, 7 great-grandchildren, Sisters, Brothers and many nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews. Waiting to greet Wayne over the Rainbow bridge will be his parents, aunts, uncles and Nephew Richard Neilson. A most common memory shared by all will be his sense of humor, quick wit and infectious laugh. We would like to ask you to donate to the Central Utah Veteran’s Home, 1551 N. Main Street, Payson, UT 84651 in lew of flowers. Thank you from the “Ford Family." Funeral Services will be held Saturday, January 9th, at 3:00 pm, at the Elks Lodge, 1100 South University Avenue, Provo, Utah. Interment in Benjamin Cemetery, Benjamin Utah.
