Mr. William "Bill" Carter

October 8, 1938 - October 1, 2012

Vance William Carter, age 74, passed from this world on October 1st 2012 in Orem, UT, surrounded by his loving wife Patricia Carter and family after a long and courageous battle with chronic health problems. Bill, as he was known by most, who knew him, was born on October 8th 1938 in Payson, UT, to Faye Warren and Vance Carter. As a young man Bill took advantage of all the adventure that Utah has to offer. Hunting and fishing were just a few of his favorite past times. Later in life Bill would become a proficient bowler and an avid golfer, a sport that he loved to share with his sons, friends and associates and anyone else he could drag onto the course. Bill married Julie Carter Rushton later divorced, (now deceased). Julie is the mother of Bob, Rick, Gary and Wendy. They lived in Utah and California. Bill married Dolly Bell and lived in Wyoming and Utah and they later divorced. Dolly is Craig’s mother. Bill married Pat Bishop on October 3rd 1982. Pat is the mother of Rick, Caren, Rob, Marci and Debi. They lived in the Salt Lake area where they enjoyed a life full of friends and family. Bill worked as an account executive for a food brokerage where he took pleasure in entertaining his many clients. Bill loved his work, he loved his friends and everybody loved Bill. Bill was a wonderful husband, a loving father, a devoted grandfather. He was a good man and we will miss him. Bill is survived by his wife Patricia Bishop Carter and his mother in-law Dolpha Bishop. His brothers and sister Larry Carter (Nina), Lynn Carter (Jill), Joann Carter Hoffman (Merrill- deceased). His children Bob Carter (Gayla), Rick Carter (Katheryn), Gary Carter (Paula), Wendy Carter Bird (Clint) and Craig Carter, Rick Chatwin (Susie), Caren Martinez (Dale), Rob Chatwin (Kim) and Debi Carter Mauer. Bill had 48 grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren. Bill was preceded in death by his parents, father-in-law C. Robert Bishop, a daughter Marci Chatwin Burgon, two brothers-in-law Merrill Hoffman, Dan Bishop, sister-in-law Debra Bishop Goeringer and a grandson Caleb Carter. Funeral Services will be held Friday, October 5, 2012 at 11:30 am at the Canyon View 3rd Ward, 762 East 1200 North, Orem, Utah, where a Viewing will be held that same morning from 9:00 am to 11:00 am. Interment in Orem City Cemetery.
