Rev. Alfonso G. Vigil
September 29, 1925 - October 12, 2012
Alfonso was born in the small mining town of Berwind, CO to Amador and Clorinda Vigil. After high school he attended and graduated from Latin American Bible Institute in Saspamco, TX in 1944. Alfonso began his pastorate in Jaroso, CO, shortly after graduation. He married fellow alumnus, Virginia Cordova in 1947. In 1958, Alfonso accepted a teaching position at his alma mater where he also held the position of principal. After eight years at the school, Alfonso took a brief sabbatical then returned to the pastorate until he retired in 2009. Alfonso’s entire ministry was with the Spanish Assemblies of God Fellowship, Central Latin American District. He loved the calling God placed on his life and considered it a privilege to serve his Lord. Alfonso was preceded in death by his parents, his brothers Albeo, Dudley and John and his sisters Jenny Torres and Augustina Shoblo. He is survived by his wife, Virginia, three daughters and their spouses, Becky & Roy Cazares, Sylvia & Gary McGuire and Doris Vigil, six grandchildren, 13 great grandchildren (with a great granddaughter and great great granddaughter on the way), his brother Paul Vigil of Pueblo, CO and sister Christella Castillo of Trinidad, CO, along with many nieces and nephews. Funeral Services will be held on Wednesday, October 17th at 1:00 pm, at Christian Life Center (Centro de Vida Cristiana) 1055 N Redwood Rd, SLC. Viewing will be Tuesday from 6-8 pm, also at the church, as well as Wednesday one hour prior to the services. Interment will be at Redwood Memorial Estates, 6500 S Redwood Rd., Taylorsville. The family would like to express thanks to everyone for the prayers and kindnesses we have received. We so appreciate the tender care rendered by the hospice nurses of Symbii Health. A special thanks to Angie McGuire for her loving care of “Dad” in his final hours.
