Anna Lu LaPray

August 20, 1936 - September 20, 2017

Anna Lucile Rallison LaPray, age 81, returned to her Heavenly Father on September 20, 2017. She passed peacefully at home, surrounded by her husband and children in Highland, Utah after a long and courageous battle with metastatic breast cancer. Anna Lu made her earthly debut in August, 1936 in Logan, Utah. She was the fifth surviving child of Robert Leo and May Lucile Rallison, joining four brothers and one sister. Another sister and brother joined the family later. Anna Lu was raised in Logan, Utah and graduated from Logan High School in 1954. She attended Utah State University and BYU, graduating from Utah State in 1958 in Elementary Education. Anna Lu married Tony LaPray in 1959 in the Logan Temple. Anna Lu valued education and taught school in Clarkston, Utah; Bountiful; Portland, Oregon; and Alpine School District. She also spent a great deal of time reading with her children who have great memories of time spent reading aloud with their mother. Anna Lu was an active member of the LDS church, spending the years teaching Primary, coaching Young Women sports, being a camp director, and serving in any way she was asked to serve. She loved to sing and could be found in the ward choir with her beautiful voice. Her greatest disappointment was when radiation took her singing voice. Anna Lu’s greatest joy was spending time with her family. In her final hours, she was always joyful to greet each of her children, grandchildren, and husband when they came to visit her. She and Tony are the parents of Mike (Pang), Suzy (Dave Schwanke), Nancy (Scott Taylor), Joey (Shawn Woods), Jene (Chad Parker) and daughter-in-law, Sita. She is the awesome grandmother to 19 of the luckiest children who loved and adored her. Anna Lu is survived by her husband and 5 children, 19 grandchildren, and two brothers, Eugene Rallison and Marvin Rallison. She is preceded in death by her parents, two sisters (Berniece Larscheid and Mareta Richards) and two brothers (Orval Rallison and Richard Rallison). Funeral services will be held Saturday, September 23, 2017, at 11:00 am, at the Highland 12th ward chapel on 5850 West 10400 North, Highland UT, where Visitations will be held on Friday, September 22nd from 6:00 – 8:00 pm and prior to services on Saturday from 9:30 – 10:30 am. Interment in Highland City Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, please donate to the American Cancer Society. Funeral Directors: Utah Valley Mortuary.
