David Fraughton Lange

September 14, 1954 - September 28, 2013

David Fraughton Lange, 59, of Springville UT passed away peacefully September 28, 2013 surrounded by his family. He was born September 14, 1954 in Monterey Park, CA. Though we wish he were still with us, we find comfort in knowing that he lived each day as if it were his last. His love for the Savior was shown each day as he served, uplifted and inspired those who he came in contact with. His smile and amazing spirit will never be forgotten. He truly appreciated the great outdoors and found renewal through rock climbing, cycling, surfing, fly-fishing and many other activities. David loved the Gospel of Jesus Christ and his testimony was manifest through his actions. He served an LDS mission in Thailand from 1973-1975. He served in many church callings and particularly cherished working with the youth. He was actively involved with the Boy Scouts of America and was responsible for numerous youth outings. Much of David’s life was shared with his best friend and eternal companion, Janice Anderson Lange. They met at Brigham Young University in 1978, and were later married in the Los Angeles Temple. David received a B.A. in Communications from BYU. Shortly after, he and Janice moved back to La Crescenta, California where they lived for the next 30 years. He owned a cabinet business and later began working in project management. David was a tremendous father who gave most of his time and resources to his children. He made it a priority to be at their different sporting events, concerts, plays and other activities. He led his children by example and each child was his very favorite. David is preceded in death by his mother Barbara Lange. He is survived by his father Marvin Lange, his wife Janice Lange, his children Jessica (Tony) Kuleto, Joanna (Adam) Smith, Erica (Drew) Redd, Heather, Stuart (Emily), Rachel (Cameron) Schmutz, Brooke, Annee, his 9 grandchildren, his sister Claudia (Dean) Cleverly, his in-laws from the Anderson family and his many nieces and nephews. Funeral Services for David will be held Friday, October 4th, at 11:00 am, at the Spring Creek Stake Center, 760 North 400 East, Springville, Utah, where a Visitation will be held prior from 9:30 am to 10:30 am. Interment in Springville, Evergreen Cemetery, 1997 South 400 East, Springville, Utah. Funeral Directors: Utah Valley Mortuary.
