Floyd Holdman

November 7, 1943 - May 5, 2016

William Floyd Holdman passed from this mortal life early May 5, 2016, surrounded and supported by loving family, after a heroic 6-year battle with Melanoma. It was a tender yet epic moment. Floyd would have had it no other way! He often said that he “wouldn’t let something like cancer keep him from”…whatever it was he was going to do. He didn’t let cancer keep him from going out in a powerful witness of love, peace and intensity. Floyd was born November 7, 1943 in Phoenix, AZ, to William James Holdman and Ethel Ruth Beardshear. With his father in the military, Floyd’s family moved around quite a bit. He began his own life of travel when he joined the Navy as a young man. After Basic Training, he met and fell in love with his precious Ann, in Barstow, CA, and married her on June 19, 1965 in the Los Angeles Temple. They were deeply connected and devoted as companions and traveled together as often as they could. Floyd constantly spoke highly of his wife and always treated her like a queen, which was why their marriage of 50 years was so successful. Theirs was a love story for the ages that will never end. They fully expect to live Happily Ever After eternally. Upon completing his service in the Navy in Virginia, he moved with his family to Utah and began schooling at BYU. Floyd was a cartoonist for the Daily Universe newspaper but his true passion was photography and he would eventually do that full time for the next 20 years, working for clients world wide, including National Geographic. He eventually turned the professional camera straps over to his son, Willie, and for the last 20 years of his life, worked with the Morinda Corporation, sharing the success and health he found through Tahitian Noni with anyone in the world who would listen. Between these two professions, he managed to visit 72 countries and loved every second. Floyd’s children were his best friends and he loved to be with them and Ann every chance he could get. He instilled in them a strong work ethic, an appreciation for art and always hoped that they would choose optimism and understand the Gospel of Jesus Christ, which was his guiding star. As a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, he served in many different capacities and all those he taught and served felt blessed by it. Floyd loved people. He delighted in being a part of others’ successes and found great joy in being a mentor, a dreamer and often, a comedian. He was fun loving, frequently goofy, fearless and undaunted by the challenges of life. He would do everything within his power to make any goal a reality. Thousands will mourn his loss worldwide. Floyd is survived by his loving wife, Ann, 4 sons, Willie Holdman (Sara), Thomas Holdman (Gayle), Richard Holdman (Jodie) and Treavor Holdman, 4 daughters, Annie Underwood (Jim), Heather Rodriguez, Tiffiany Heugly (Shane) and Holly Semanoff (Mike), 17 grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren, as well as his mother, Ethel Holdman, and siblings, Ruthetta Carter, Debbie Johnson, Jim Holdman, Jamie Kopp and Diana Morris. A Viewing and Life Celebration will be held Monday, May 9, 2016 from 5:00-7:30 pm at Northhampton House, 198 West 300 North, American Fork, Utah, 84003. An additional viewing will be held Tuesday, May 10, 2016 from 9:45 am to 10:45 am. at the LDS chapel, 327 S. Long Dr. Alpine, UT, 84004. Memorial Services will follow at 11:30 am. Floyd will be laid to rest in the Highland City Cemetery. “You may be only one person in the world, but you may also be the world to one person.” Floyd Holdman Funeral Directors: Utah Valley Mortuary.
