Mr. Fred Walz Tadje

January 1, 1923 - September 20, 2012

Fred W. Tadje, our dearly loved husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather, and friend, passed away peacefully at his home on Thursday, September 20, 2012. He was alert until the end when his body, exhausted by a full life, finally gave up. Fred was born in Salt Lake City on January 1, 1923, to Frederick and Eliza Walz Tadje and was the youngest of three sons. Fred spent many of his early years in Germany where his father served as mission president. He graduated from East High School, and served his country in the Army during World War II. Fred married Jacqueline Barrett on October 3, 1945 in the Salt Lake Temple. He attended the University of Utah and then went on to the University of Southern California where he received his degree in Dentistry. He practiced dentistry in Sugar House until his retirement. He loved hunting and fishing and especially his annual trips to Hart and Shoshone lakes with good friends. He became one of the founding members of Willow Creek Country Club where he and Jackie spent many years playing golf with a wonderful group of friends. He loved his family and provided many lasting memories for children and grandchildren during their annual summer vacations in Sun Valley and at October apple squeezing parties. He was an active member of the LDS Church and served in many church callings. He is survived by his wife Jackie, children Ann (Terry) Cluff, James (Susan) Tadje, Rob (Marsha) Tadje, Joan (Reed) Adams, 16 grandchildren, and 39 great grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his parents and brothers, John and Harold. The family wishes to thank the wonderful friends and neighbors who so willingly gave of their time. They also thank Superior Hospice and the Veterans Administration for their service and compassion. A Memorial Service will be held Saturday, September 29, 2012 at 12:00 noon at the Holladay 18th Ward, 2625 East Milo Way, Holladay, Utah. Friends are invited to visit family members prior to the service beginning at 11:15 am. Inurnment will be at Wasatch Lawn Memorial Park earlier in the day. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to the Jane Barrett Memorial Fund at the University of Utah College of Architecture and Planning 375 South 1530 East, Room 235, Salt Lake City, Utah, 84112.
