LaNita Granger Kilpack Brown

September 1, 1937 - October 26, 2021

Our precious beloved Pete passed away peacefully at her home in Manti, Utah, surrounded by her family on October 26, 2021. She was born September 1, 1937 in Cedar City, Utah, to Walter and Nell Leavitt Granger. She married Donald Ray Kilpack April 9, 1955. They were later divorced but remained best friends throughout life spending time with and celebrating their five children and their many Grandchildren. They were sealed in the LDS Manti Temple for eternity on June 5, 2021. She married Neil J. Brown September 20, 1969. They were divorced ten years later. Pete had a zest for life and touched the lives of all who knew her with music, a beautiful singing voice and a loving nature. She lived a life of service which began when she was a child, singing and entertaining. She took the lead playing and singing with her mother and six sisters for 60 years. She taught herself to play the ukulele and piano as a young teen and the Omni Chord a few years later. Because of her love of family, she served for 25 years as Secretary for her Mother’s huge Leavitt family, organizing and planning reunions to bring the family together. She has done the same with her Father’s big Granger Family. She always reminded her five children that they were the most important thing in her life, and that is how she treated them. She has always loved traveling. Pete went to Europe several times and loved experiencing the many cultures. She took our Mother on many trips across our Country, Canada, and Mexico and on our family cruises. She knew all of our big Leavitt family, including their children by name. They all love her dearly. Pete is survived by her children, Bill and Laura Kilpack, Bob and Joan Kilpack, Ray and Annette Kilpack, Kelly Leatherbury Greco, Cindy and Mitch Smith. Twenty-one grandchildren and 43 great grandchildren; sisters Jeri (Mick) Meyer, Mert (Jack) Gertino, and Judy (Marv) Bell, and one brother, Ivan “Ike” Granger. Preceded in death by her parents and sisters Vesta Prescott Anthony, Georgia Chorn and Claire Shepherd Mineer. Services will be held Saturday, October 30th, at 12:00 noon, at the Manti Tabernacle, 90 South Main Street, Manti, Utah, where a Viewing will be held prior to services from 10:00 to 11:45 am. Interment in Spring City Cemetery, Spring City, Utah. Funeral Directors: Utah Valley Mortuary.
