Leilani Ku'ulei White
April 30, 1979 - February 27, 2017
Leilani Ku'ulei White was born to Gerek Kinau and Patricia Lynn White on April 30, 1979 in San Diego, California. Her father Gerek was serving in the United States Navy at the time of her birth. Two days after Leilani was born the military hospital would not release baby Leilani and mother Patti until the full payment of $14 and some change were made (What a bargain don't you think?). Growing up little Leilani always lit up the room with her bright eyes, huge smile and infectious and boisterous laugh! (she could be loud, okay she might be loud, okay SHE IS LOUD!) but we all love her for it! She was the cutest little girl and Mom loved sewing pretty little dresses for her. People would say "oh, you're so cute" Leilani would sometime respond "I know". Leilani's brother Sam was born 18 months after Leilani and was her best friend and was almost as loud as she was! Sister Kahikilani came 2 years after Sam and Sister Meleana 3 years after Kahikilani. Some years later brother Jesse joined our family and completed our O'hana. The meaning of Leilani's first name is: Lei (garland of flowers) and lani (heaven), "garland of flowers from heaven". Leilani's middle name Ku'ulei was given to her in honor of her dad's mother Edith Ku'ulei. The meaning of Ku'ulei is: Ku'u (my) and Lei (garland of flower), "my garland of flowers". Leilani Ku'ulei, our "heavenly flower" honored her Grandmothers name by giving and loving just like her namesake did. Grandma Ku'ulei is a great and loving woman who gives all to help others and so does Leilani. Leilani grew up in a little town called Stanwood located in Washington State. She attended and graduated from Stanwood High School in 1998 and also attended Skagit Valley Community College in 1999. Leilani was married in 2002 and divorced in 2007. Leilani's son Isaiah and daughter Joy are the loves and meaning of her life. Everything that she does are for their behalf. Leilani is so proud of Isaiah for who he is. Isaiah is a reflection of Leilani's love and compassion for others. We know that Leilani will always be by Isaiah's side watching over and guiding him throughout his life. Leilani is also proud of her daughter Joy who is a graduate of BYU with a Bachelors of Science & Management degree and is now pursuing her degree in law. Leilani's working career includes: • Working in the Seafood Department at Haggen's Grocery Store • She worked with disabled children at a Children's Rehab Center • She worked in a pre-school/daycare (as Leilani loves children) • She worked at Intel-Micron Flash Technologies as a FAB technician and trainer • She had presently worked at Young Living (her dream job) where she started as a trainer before becoming an Assistant Manager for the Leadership Department. She thrived and grew tremendously at Young Living. She loved her job and the people that she worked with and expressed that feeling often to her family members. She was happy with her life and was heading on a good and fruitful path. Our family thanks Young Living for giving Leilani the opportunity to grow, learn, achieve, find success and be loved by others who worked with her. Leilani's manager "JP" said that Leilani touched many hearts with her smile and the way she was. Leilani's best friends (besides Isaiah and Joy) are Devin Olson and Liam Sloan who are her hanai (adopted) brothers. They have been a great blessing in Leilani's and Isaiah's lives. Our family thanks Devin and Liam for supporting and being such great friends to Leilani and for now continuing to be so for Isaiah. If Leilani could speak to everyone here right now, she would start off by saying "ALOHA", she would express how grateful she is for everyone who have attended today, she would say that she loves you all, she would introduce everyone to her Son Isaiah and Daughter Joy and would relate you how proud she is of them, she would express her love to her family, she would say how happy she is and somewhere in all of this, she would probably give a "Plug" for Young Living. We Leilani's family also express our love to everyone here, you are all our family. Thank you for your time, your support, your service and most importantly for your love. This has been a challenging week for sure, but because of you and the love of our Savior we have the strength to endure. We love you and can't express our thanks enough. May God bless you all with his choicest blessings, always! Funeral Services will be held Saturday, March 4, 2017 at 11:00 am at the Manila 8th Ward, 3785 West Box Elder Drive (4000 North), Pleasant Grove, Utah. Interment in Pleasant Grove City Cemetery, 600 North 100 West, Pleasant Grove, Utah. Flowers may be sent to 3785 West Box Elder Drive (4000 North), Pleasant Grove, Utah after 8:30 am on Saturday, March 4th. Funeral Directors: Utah Valley Mortuary.
