Owen Fullmer

January 5, 1926 - August 28, 2014

Owen Lew Fullmer left us on August 28, 2014 while residing for a short time at the Heritage Care Center. Owen lived a happy and exemplary life. He was born on January 5, 1926 at the family home in Springville, Utah. Owen was team captain for the Springville High School football team, and exceeded the Utah state record for the 100 yard dash because of his track and field abilities. He was drafted into the United States Army just before his high school graduation, leaving his father to cross the stage and receive his diploma. He served a mission for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in the Northwestern States Mission. Owen married Joanna Johnson in the Manti temple on September 13, 1951, and they were the exceptional parents of four children, and had 18 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren. He worked for the Social Security Administration for many years, and was the preferred civil servant for all the people who visited his office. He and his wife served as a missionary couple in the Philippines, Cebu mission for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Owen had an extraordinarily friendly and cheerful attitude, speaking with and interacting with everyone that he met. This attribute was evident throughout his life, and his signature smile and cheerful jig brought joy to those around him. Owen’s family will appreciate any memories that you can contribute concerning our beloved husband and father, by writing them on this website, or by submitting your thoughts to a family member. Our family sincerely appreciates all of your love and support at the time of our bereavement. Funeral Services for Owen will be held Saturday, September 6th, at 11:00 am, at Mapleton 21st Ward (the White Church), 31 West Maple Street, Mapleton, Utah, where a Visitation will be held prior from 9:30 am to 10:30 am. Interment in Springville Evergreen Cemetery, 1997 South 400 East, Springville, Utah. Funeral Directors: Utah Valley Mortuary.
