Please send to [email protected] Rex Floyd Ivie, son of Perry Floyd Ivie and Hephzibah Ellen Ivie, passed away on Tuesday, September 10th, 2019 at the American Fork Hospital in American Fork, Utah. Rex died peacefully surrounded by family and friends after complications from a fall five days prior. He is survived by his four children, Steven Rex Ivie, James Rex Ivie and his wife Kelly, Jeffrey Rex Ivie and Susan Ivie Bonin and her husband Michel. He is also remembered by his five grandchildren and three great grandchildren. He is one of 7 children and also leaves behind his youngest brother Russell Ivie of Boise, ID. Rex celebrated his 93rd birthday in July and for the past two years was living in Highland, Utah near his son James and his family. Rex was born in Burley, ID on July 12, 1926. He enlisted in the army in WWII when he was just 18 and served in the Corps of Army Engineers in the South Pacific Theatre. Following his discharge from the Army, Rex attended and graduated from art school and gained employment as an engraver at the Crown Zellerbach paper mill in Port Townsend, Washington. He subsequently moved to Northern California where he continued his employment with Crown, first in San Leandro and later in Antioch. It was there that he met and married his dear wife Mary Deane Paulson Ivie, in 1961. Rex and Mary lived in Antioch all their married lives where they raised four children and enjoyed deep and enduring friendships. Rex was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and served faithfully and diligently in many different capacities within the Church. Rex leaves behind a legacy of gentle kindness and quiet patience. He touched the lives of all those he came in contact with, and sealed those relationships with hugs. Rex was a loving husband, a farmer, a brother, a veteran, an artist, a gardener, a wise grandfather, a missionary and confidant and attentive listener, a lover of the harmonica, a nurturing ecclesiastical leader and a hard working and loving father. We are grateful for his journey and example these 93 years. In one of his final conversations with his family, when asked what he looks forward to doing next he responded “I will find Mary and we will walk everywhere together.” Memorial Services will be held Saturday, September 28th, at 10:00 am, at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, 10494 North 4720 West, Highland, Utah. Interment with Military Honors at 12:00 noon in the Pleasant Grove City Cemetery, 600 North 100 West, Pleasant Grove, Utah. Funeral Directors: Utah Valley Mortuary.
