Sterling Roe Beck

October 30, 1947 - September 3, 2021

Sterling Roe Beck (73) passed away on September 3, 2021. Sterling was born on October 30, 1947, in Logan, Utah. He was the third of twelve children born to Frank Preston Beck and Jeannie Margaruite Dooling. Sterling completed his bachelor’s degree in Physics from Brigham Young University in 1972. His hobbies and interests included a love of reading and learning, hiking and camping, singing and music, leatherwork, embroidery, yarn hangars, and spending time with his precious sweetheart. He was memorable as always wearing bowties and smiley-face shirts. He was known as the “State Street Smile Guy”, as he often took walks on his lunch break and would wave and greet others as they drove past. He will be remembered for his ability to fix almost anything, and how he always had his belt and pockets loaded with tools prepared to help wherever was needed. His career in Aerospace and Engineering inspired him to look for ways to repair things or make them better. He was a member of the The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Genola 2nd Ward and enjoyed greeting and welcoming everyone to church each Sunday. He married his sweetheart, Michelle, in August 1970, in the Salt Lake Temple and they recently celebrated their 51st wedding anniversary. Sterling is survived by his wife, Michelle Sharon Gunn Beck, children: Marianna (Donald) Dolan, Telindalee (Bryan) King, Monlo (Kristin) Beck, Emily Beck, Xaph Rynel, and Jimmy Beck, grandchildren: Alicia Dolan, Bryan Dolan, Jonathan Dolan, James Dolan, Garland Bryan King (Addie), Caden King, Savannah King, and Felicity Beck. He is preceded in death by his grandson, Malachi Beck. Memorial services will be held Friday, September 10, 2021, at 10:30 am at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints located at 50 N. Main St., Genola, Utah, were a Visitation with the family to be held prior from 9:00-10:15 am. Graveside service with Military Honors to follow at the Genola Town Cemetery.
